Awful weather - typical Brits talk

YBE love your stealth seed job 😂
Dusty that’s a lovely willow walk still very green too, with a hint of autumn.
Farway I thought your elderberry was a bonsai tree !!Had a walk for a couple of hours yesterday, when we set off it was looking dark with menacing cloud, came back sweating as there was no breeze.Saturday spent at dd2 s , cutting back brambles and hacking shrubs down, dd2 not a gardener but will need to leave the rented place looking less like a wilderness if she ever gets to move.
Said I would go back today but the sun is out and I’m a little delicate after sitting in dbs garden till after midnight chatting with a glass or two. Shows how warm it was though, I didn’t even need a coat.
Some strange neighbours you lot have. Talking of which mine pressure washed his drive, which in turn sand blasted all over my garden and dgsons car 😱. So cleaning and painting and quietly fuming were done.
Hope everyone gets to relax and enjoy the bank holiday,Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4 -
Think they spit if their pregnant, it's a way of a female telling a male to back off.
Tried to look the clip up but just got ai generated silly commentary.
Lovely and cool this morning but the sun is coming out.
No news of any drenching here. Some of the trees are already bare with 'autumn' leaves thick in the gutters.
The ponies and cattle are feeding together on the moor which is rare. Just not enough grass.
Farway if you'd wanted some cyclamen from my old place I had them growing all over but here I've only a small area. No attention needed, bloom a couple of times a year when other stuff doesn't. Also grow in almost no soil. What's not to like 🙂
As for neighbours mine stay in the house with the blinds closed in case anyone sees their business. 5 o'clock start this morning.
Today is domestic nonsense day. Another fight with talk talk, car insurance etc. all the stuff you shove out of sight .
Hoping that I'll have something cheerier to report tonight 😉I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Nice, sunny & warm day forecast, made an early start by trundling garden wheelie around to the front for collection tomorrow. The caterpillars have nearly consumed all the nasturtium now, but they have grown big & fat on it.“My” robin came down to inspect what I was up to while I was mooching around. There are nowhere near as many caterpillars as there were, so my assumption is my robin and others have been snacking on them, hope so, that is the idea after all.Quick bit of watering completed on the wall baskets, the carp compost dries out so quicklyDustyevsky said:Hmm, thanks to your elderberry exploits, I went a long way down the Cotswold Flowers rabbit burrow, Farway.
The experience reminded me of that old radio programme, "These You Have Loved." Richard Baker could exhume classical favourites at will, whereas I can't do the same for all the lovely, yet temperamental plants from Sands Lane! Back in the day, Mrs Dusty and I would head there to see what new treasures we could find to tempt our customers, and it was Bob Brown who would cheerfully supply them. Eventually, we worked out why some treasures were rare!
However, it could also be argued our conditions weren't always conducive to good husbandry.
Whatever, we still have some plants purchased there, as not all proved too demanding. I suspect your DD will be safe enough with the Sambucus!
By the way, pub gardens must be a style. The latest copy of The Garden features a number of them. I also heard on our otherwise fairly useless weekday local radio, Riverford are still not able to produce lettuce without peat in their compost. That was rather telling! "Hopefully within 5 years, we were told." For those who may not know the org. to which I'm referring:Your link Dusty, doesn't work, site not found. Missing bit or what? However, I asked Chat about it and read about his progress, even toms are 12% reduced yields with peat free, and he's an expert, no wonder we struggleNon-political but shades of net-zero, ruin ourselves for some idea world view.Glad you liked the memory jog, he sounds like a man very happy in his work. I'm never going to get there, but I can imagine it would be an enjoyable visit to his holding. Not seen current Garden mag, and pub gardens, but I'll look for it. That's us, ahead of the curve here on MSEAnother one who thought of spitting llamasSounds like a good tip planned YBE, NC 500? Hope the weather holds for you so you can get all the views yiu want. Best of luck to you & the Swift at Applecross, one I've been up, great views but OMG the drive is heart in mouth at times.Hope you recover to enjoy today Wort, last BH before the X one!Not much gardening planned today, I may clear out the dying toms from the conservatory, a dead loss this year.Plus may catch up on BG

My first thought was spitting llamas too
Exciting about the road trip, YBE. We travelled around that way last year, but not the actual NC500 route. I'll have to have a look at our full itinerary, but Durness was stunning and we stayed in a gorgeous Shepherd's Hut there and also had one night in their B&B because we fancied having our breakfast cooked for usI'll pm you the name of the accommodation if you want it. The surrounding beaches and sand dunes were jaw-droppingly beautiful
Funnily enough I was just looking at the photos and videos from there yesterday and was reminded about Smoo Cave Smoo Cave, Durness – Caves | VisitScotland - we didn't go into the cave, but there's a waterfall/torrent of water which cascades into a deep hole with a wee bridge over it and I very bravely walked over it. Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend Durness
We're in the process of planning another trip to the Outer Hebrides in October and we're already looking forward to it.
I love the wee Sambucus Florence, Farway - Florence is a family name so I feel I should definitely buy that one.
That's annoying about the neighbour and their careless pressure washing, wort.
twopenny, I'll do a wee rain dance for you - you must be due some decent rain soon. I was awake at 5am too, but not because of noisy neighbours.
I love your willow grove, Dusty. Lots of leaves on the ground here too.
OT - the sun has finally come out and it's looking like a damn fine day...'A watched potato will never chit'...2 -

I've put all the filled dumpy bags in the van, and now it's pretty treatment for the gates.....
One benefit of being a 'conspiracy theorist' is having slug pellets that work.3 -
Well the massive heatwave didn't come unless you count the midday hour when it whipped up to 34c then down again.I'm doubtful Dusty. We'll get some sort of shower no doubt but then its dry and sunny for the next couple of days.I thank you for the rain dance Poppy, but I've put out washing, cleaned the car and windows, carpets and nothing worksWort that is annoying but at least you got the garden watered for nothing? My neighbours son, half decent one, does his car like that and my bench is soaking
But so far, since I've been doing his mums bins he hasn't done it. I think she may have had a word - or it could be when it broke my pot!
Bluey there was a programme about the 500 road and people on it. A bit dreary but it may be a clue in there.I can recommend the Scotland Forum on TripAdvisor. They're a good bunch and knowledgeable. Just be clear about what you want to save time. And use DuckDuck because the ads on there are awful. Do not book through TA or use the 'Trip'Ignore any comments about it being Haggis hunting seasonOh and I watched the Japanese master last night. Very good. Looking forward to the next episode.I've been in the garden clearing up and cutting back because that's in the shade. On the one hand it looks better but on the other unfortunate discoveries like the evergreen winter Clematis is shriveled and brown.Washed the Viburnum leaves again and there are signs of green on the leaves that haven't fallen off. Our lack of birds again. Bugs are thriving.
The Jasmine leaves have turned pink. Very pretty if it wasn't desperateBH well it was surprisingly quiet considering the weather. But time to go home and there were 5 ambulances and a police car off out within an hour.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
