Edit, missed your post Less. Isn't that a lacewing in the middle photo? I've only seen green ones but as you live where dragons be......Agree, it does look a bit like one, but lacewings are quite delicate things, and this was definitely not delicateiRecord suggests it was a (Very) Large Stonefly...

Well morning folks.
Sunny ISH here.
I've been saying I've not done any gardening for various reasons but surely picking fruit and eating home made jam at breakfast is all part of it.
Have to wait in all afternoon for a doctor's call which apparently isn't important. Guess announcing what a stuff up it all is has come back to bite me 🥴
So may have to shift some compost now it's rained.
I do have some clematis left from my disastrous pruning. Wonder if you can spot it. Where I stuck stuff in at the start it's all a bit of a mess but a thriving mess 😊
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

YoungBlueEyes said:“Went to Ventnor Bot Garden this morning, and saw this -It drizzled a bit early on but it let us get right into the garden and then the heavens opened and we near drowned. Got some good photos, but not sure if they’re anything queer/rare etc as there were almost no labels.
Here’s one that put me in mind of you Dusty. It was more downhill-ier than it looks mind!I think the tree was trying to tell your OH something. Maybe, "You got your visits erse about face! Should've done the gardens on one of the fine days, like Bluey suggested."Don't worry about the lack of labels. It even happens at Rosemoor. I'm sure we folk can ID most things.....and there's AI.

Lovely photos, YBE. I have no idea what your first pic is (part of a tree trunk??), but I'm sure I can see a face in there - spooky.
Our Drs are usually pretty good, twopenny. Hope you get your phone call and don't have to wait too long. Your garden is looking gorgeous.
I had a bit of excitement earlier - I was sat in the bedroom with the window open and could hear a bird but didn't know what it was. I quickly checked the Merlin app and it was a Tawny Owl. It reminded me that DH and I saw a couple of owlets a few years ago while we were out on a walk - I think they must have just fledged - it remains my all-time greatest wildlife moment
OT, I'm still under the weatherI walked to the pharmacy yesterday to pick up a prescription and it felt so humid, I was literally wilting by the time I got home. It feels a wee bit fresher today, but still quite sticky. Rain forecast, so hopefully that'll clear things.

Another baby bunny pic from yesterday - I think it’s the most photogenic bunny I’ve ever seen 😊

Up early feed & water, too muggy last night to get proper kip, hence up & aboutLessImpecunious said:I'll get in an ooer missus to your Ventnor photo too, before Farway gets there...YoungBlueEyes said:It drizzled a bit early on but it let us get right into the garden and then the heavens opened and we near drowned. Got some good photos, well I took lots of photos, but not sure if they’re anything queer/rare etc as there were almost no labels. Did the price of labels skyrocket or something? We’ll switch out the tom growers for the Royal Armoury one then Farway. We’ve tried the toms and they’re amazing 😌 so we went back in and bought another bagful. I’ve plenty to share now if anyone wants seeds. Yummy yum yum.Did anyone get a pic of the Strawberry moon? The gardens changed hands a few years back & fell into disrepair / neglect until recently. My guess it the labels vanished during the bad years.Good to hear you liked the IOW toms, I hope the seeds come true for you, my ones are growing but no fruits yetAnd if you do get up to Fort Nelson, plenty of photos up there. I've tacked some of mine on the end.The tunnels BTW were dug by Imported Welsh Miners, a bit of wayward info I picked up on a guided tourNo moon, just clouds, even had my camera ready to go, but no luckMy new T & M rhubarb is going well, more sticks to tempt me.If weather & my back allow, I'll feed & water the manky plum & the yummy rhubarb this afternoonJust refreshed, nice bunnies there, PP, something to see elsewhere and not in your own garden.Hope the lurgy is easing by now. Here's my Helen blackberry, way ahead of Merton, but it does say Very Early Season and it's correct. My first year with decent crop, only had it two years and bought because my Mum was Helen, no other reason. And now, to tempt YBE on their way homeThe poppies on rampart are no longer there, were the Tower of London ones on tourEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8

Those sorts of things happened back then. Now, it seems, we just have conflicts to dodge.
Will I have to fight my way through panicking people, buying ludicrous quantities of toilet roll this morning? Nah, round here it's the beer and cider that goes first!
All the same, it's just as well the van holds plenty of diesel......
Yesterday's downpours had an interesting effect in the stream. Much of the new neighbour's brush and ditch clearing detritus came through in a rush and ended up against Mr Canute's barrier. There's now something looking like we've become home to beavers, but at least the main run is clear. As we've been enjoying Less's formidable insect collection, I'll add one spotted at Rosemoor back in April. I thought I knew what it was....but I was wrong!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8 -

I don't usually garden when it's wet as I dislike getting soaked. However, I love the way the garden smells afterwards.7
