Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Still in the spin drier of life - neighbours son leaving by car at 4.45am most of the week because he can't walk the 10mins to work so I'm tired. My egg and milk farm supply has none, Where I go swimming put the price up from 3.50 to £200 a year with no warning and still sorting the deceased tree out so no time to do the garden as I run round trying to sort stuff out.
I think Bluey I'll have to cut the rose down by half. It got hit by the wind first then the rain with all the heavy blooms on.
Also a lovely yellow foxglove that self seeded got snapped.
But still getting strawberries which are just a handful and delicious.
And Fairway, look away now
They've seeded all over now on their own. I did have to use packets for 2yrs but now they are romping away.
Poppy, citronella. That's all I'm saying. Dilute before using.
Dusty I've got lost with all your shenanigans. There's a coach trip to Barnstaple or Rosemoor. I'm debating that as I wasn't that impressed with RM when I visited before. It was too formal and bland but your photos are amazing.
Wort, do you need special insurance for going down hill in those baskets?
Tomorrow I was going out somewhere but it's going to rain again. We'll see ☔🤔I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Think we're all getting the same kind of weather eh. Not enough rain in general, then too much all at once  Will you get some rubber ducks for your lake before it soaks in next time Less?
Neighbour's son wants shooting imo 2p, ignorant pig. Are you still thinking about maybe moving perhaps...? That swimming price increase is a bit chunkyIf everyone refuses to pay it it'll soon go back down. Ahh look at your flowers, and self seeding too #NotABitJealousActuallyThankYou
Here is this week's not legal advice madey uppy story. I've been chewing this since last week, trying to take the details out but leave the message in. We all know there's no such thing as being 'basically probably married because we've been together for yonks', well the less well advertised reverse is true. There's no such thing as 'basically probably divorced because the other half ran out on you and you don't know where they are'. We had a woman come in, absolutely destroyed. Her father sodded off years ago but they weren't divorced and her mum hadn't changed her will. Long story short - mum passed, all went to dad but dad had passed a few weeks later. Dad had met someone else after he left mum and daughter, and had 2 sons. Dad's new will left everything to his sons. So this poor woman was sorting out her mum's estate, just to give everything to 2 fellahs she didn't even know existed. So if you want to be divorced you must actually get a divorce, and make sure your wills are up to date. She was only young as well, god love her.
OT the sun came up but it's clouding over again now. Quite mild out there at 10'c, and a bit less windy than yesterday. Possibly.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
Depressing stuff, YBE, but worth knowing.
twopenny, I have citronella candles, but are you talking about oil?? I'll have to look into that. I'm not a fan of the smell of citronella (reminds me of fly spray), but if it works...
The LIAM petals are a lovely colour, but the inside looks alien-like. Hope Farway isn't too envious
wort and taff, I've got flip flop style Fit flops, that I agree are soooo comfortable, but no good for being out and about, for me anyway. I keep getting FB pages popping up for the brand and they seem to have lots of different styles now, including wedges, so I need to have a look on their website.
Thanks for reminding me about insoles, YBE. I got some from the podiatrist that must still be in my old trainers - I'll have to try them in my walking shoes.
Dusty, lucky you having a carpenter/joiner for a FiL. I might end up buying a pergola kit, although there is someone I could possibly ask to make one from scratch. I just have to decide on where I want it in the garden now, but I've been thinking about that for years and am still none the wiser
I looked on the Lidl app and the Dianthus were £7.99 for six plants.
It looks like another wet and windy day today and feels chilly - I was so tempted to put the fire on last night, but got pussycat to sit on my lap instead'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
Posting without catching up. Here’s your sign 2p. Poor quality cos the fence was a way away from the roadside -

Quick posting too...PP there are all sorts, shoes, slip ons, ankle, calf, knee boots, wellies.. I have pretty much every type , where I used to have only three pairs of shows total, now I have enough to make Imelda Marcos weep [that's the joys of severe plantar fasciitis, which after even ops is still hanging about so I don't chance it now, it's fitflops or die] ...I wouldn't recommend their new 'professional' shoes, they're plastic and not very comfortable, ditto the plastic slip on two bar across the top sandals.I'n sure someone mentioned geranium oil mixed with basil or citronella too...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6

-taff said:Has the feral cat come back now? How awful that they stole a plant from you. Did you do any nefarious stuff in revenge? And I think a child giggling while repeating Chaos Theory would definitely put the sheets up me...
I think chaos theory was mentioned in one of those sophisticated cartoons, but that GS is far too bright for his parents' own good.
I believe Karma sorts things out without the need for revenge. 'Shiftee Plants' was swallowed up in a multi-million takeover about 5 years later.
(That wasn't the worst thing they did to us, so they had it coming!
)

I've just returned from an early shift, transporting a lady to and from the health centre, and they don't allow naughty people to join the Hospital Car Service....CRB checks etc.
I'd give Rosemoor another whirl. Don't forget, there are wilder bits beyond the more formal gardens.
YoungBlueEyes said:I don't know where the mods are atm, I see Crashy's still on the housing board so they're not over thereHe's a contrarian, like me.....except I'm right, and he's been consistently wrong!Your divorce/will story I can believe. Did I not tell you privately about a similar one I was involved with last year? Heartbreaking.I can't keep up here, but lovely LIAMs 2p, and here's the sign local to me like the one you posted Bluey:OT: Sunny intervals and less wind, but it returns tomorrow."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Late arrival, waylaid by food delivery & general faffing aboutWindy with sporadic sunshineOh, the mockery with my [lack of] love in a mist, Infamy, Infamy.Serve you lot right if my Plan B mixed annuals are not full of LIAM come AugustThinking on my Plan B should produce a blaze of Orange with the crinkly California poppies & pot marigolds, both types have germinated so if slugs keep clear I'm on a winner, maybe.twopenny said:They've seeded all over now on their own. Poppy, citronella. That's all I'm saying. Dilute before using.Lovely LIAM colours. [Sobs quietly]Poppy, WD 40 or, and Jeyes F. Kill or cureMods, This is a joke BTW
Next week on Beechgrove, section on Sitooteries, may be some ideas thereMy T & M offer dahlia turned up yesterday after I said it was AWOL.I've potted it up already, it has two shoots sprouting, and they are red so at least it is one of the Bishop strains, hopefully Oxford, which I now see is also orange to match the rest of Plan BSomeone will be accusing me of colour coordinating nextMy grapefruit is still flowering, yah boo to LIAM, there are some embryo fruits now, but still at the “will they drop off or not” stageNetting still in place on cherries & strawberriesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -
Farway sorry about the fairway. Tablet changes it without my cooperation.
If you want pot marigold seeds I'm happy to send some. Mine came from a friend and were stored for 3yrs and still came good.
Things gone from ropey to lots ropier with a health issue so may not be posting much for a while but I will be reading 🙂
However I did manage to slam some car doors while neighbours son was having his afternoon nap and it may happen at 10pm when they go to bed at 9. Sometimes explaining politely doesn't do the trickI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Fingers crossed either shoes+insoles or different shoes work for you pp
Taff Office Micro Manager woman has plantar fasciitis (we think it's half the reason she's so sour) so I'll tell her about FitFlops in case she doesn't know.
I do remember your similar story Dusty, heart-breaking indeed. I was debating whether to do my post but I did, because plenty of people know about the marriage part but no-one mentions the divorce/will part. Not even Martin Lewis. I don't understand that cos they're equally important imo although I am not a lawyer etc.
Do dahlias + grapefruit make up for the lack of LiaM then Farway? There's poppies all over the place round here, but Shawshank Patch is successfully keeping them out so far, no matter how many seeds I sow
So you've got 2 signs to use 2pDunno if I prefer Dusty's tbh. Hopefully you can annoy the Inconsiderate Son into submission... I'm crossing my fingers tightly that your spin drier of life stops soon and you can get on an even keel
A drain that runs under your house Less?! My brain would be chewing that constantly, jeez I'd have to move! After I'd had my fill of doing Pooh Sticks, obviously. Ooh how small do rubber ducks come...?Then I'd move.
OT raining and breezy and cool. Who mentioned about the killer wall of fatal storms and rain that's due to hit the whole country? Well there was a Breaking News Flash thing on my puter yesterday and I clicked it without thinking (I'll get a b0ll0cking for that, grrrr) because it said they knew the exact date and time that the monster fatal killer storm would hit and how much we'd get. Just to save anyone else clicking such nonsense the answer is "Saturday" and "maybe up to approx 2mm per hour".
It wasn't raining when I got up so I took a pic of the Happy Grandad Shed next door. #ThisIsWhatYouGetWhenYouLeaveStuffBe
And a pic of my Heavenly Blue wosname that I bought 3 of, but the other two have curled up their toes, only this one is giving it a go.Hopefully that’s a counter balance to the misery I posted yesterdayI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7
