Less you could well be right. But the Siberian I know are bulbs and not blooming now.
These are densely deep rooted which is what had me puzzled.
How come you have wet when I'm across the channel and it's dry as a bone.
Don't quote me on this but I could do with a day or two of rain. I'm exhausted feeling I must make the most of the dry and sunshine!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Still very windy over in the north west, the rain was very sparse, I think it’s been the driest I can remember for a long time, for the early part of the year. We seem to have missed rain when nearby has had it. Not done much gardening as I’m getting ready for my holiday, last day I. Work today 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Some fab pics as usual. Running man clouds, spooky trees and fuzzy bee bums ,just a few of the ones I recall.
2p I think maybe you need a notice up stating this is private land.
Sun out already and the wind has dropped so far. Enjoy your day.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Only a quick go from me this morning cos I’m on my phone. Laptop is doing a windows update thing and is making a right meal of it, it’s been saying “100% complete, do not turn off your computer” for over an hour now. *sigh*Just to add to our growing lexicon - I was reading a thing on my news site last night and we’ve another new word. ‘Enshittification’. When something starts off great, slowly gets worse, and turns to poop when they let the money become the main focus.Himself is annoyed with the poor management at his work so he booked us a holiday. We’re off to the Aisle of Widget! I’ve had a look for things to do/see (gardens obviously - you people have created a monster
) but what else should be on our must see/no way Pedro list? Osborne House and Shanklin Chine, but where else? Any good/bad places to eat? I doubt we’ll be sunbathing but is one beach prettier than the others? All suggestions gratefully received
OT cool and showery and 11’c now, warm and sunny and 18’c later. They say.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
2 holidays at once!
Sheesh it's going to be quiet around here! Lucky folks 😀
Bluey why not post on the Travel UK forum? Cheers it up a bit cause it's all problems on there.
Wort have a lovely time.
I've put up sighs 😉 and like a grumpy old lady I've one on the front door too. The new postie slings my post on the front porch leaving my banking details for anyone who fancies 😬
What is it with the world today?

Sunny start, supposed to get wet & windy during the week, so I'd better get stuff done todayYoungBlueEyes said:Just to add to our growing lexicon - I was reading a thing on my news site last night and we’ve another new word. ‘Enshittification’. Oooh, IOW, what ferry Portsmouth or Scumhampton? >:)If Pompey, virtual wave Northwards towards Farway Towers as you zip by at M27 / M275 junctionFor 'imself maybe? Has to be the Hovercraft, only public one in the world. Not to fly on it, but ideal if you have never seen one in action. Top Tip, don't stand behind as it slips down the beach.Ride on the train, old London Underground trains are used, and handy for Hovercraft at RydePretty village, Godshill https://www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/explore/villages/godshillShanklin Old Village - good pubs / cafes etc https://visitshanklin.co.uk/things-to-do/shanklin-old-village/The Needles, obvs, hold onto your hat if windy, feeling brave? There's a chairlift down to Alum Bay, coloured sandsHave a nice holiday & relax, eat ice creams & cream teasMay be worth joining National trust if not a member, for free parking over thereBack OT.Sowed my packet of mixed annuals, plan C, it never said what's in them, I guess standard Love in M, marigolds, cornflowers etcI also scattered some mixed beetroot seeds at the same time, never know, may even get something edible.Bees are visiting the grapefruit flowers, would I be foolish to dream of some fresh citrus fruits? Seems citrus are mainly self fertile, just need a nudge in the right direction. One thing I must do today is fix fleece over my strawberries, they are just starting to colour upAnd, first sighting of the Cavalry arrivingPS, Blue, if you like it, IOW Garlic, big grower there, worth a mooch & maybe some to grow?Plus, has to be IOW tomatoes, again big grower there, not sure if the farm is open, they are lovely toms though, i buy them here when in season.I'm trying to grow some yellow cherries from seed saved from one of theirs last year

Lost my post.....
One involuntary twitch of right mouse button....and totally discombu99erated.
I'll be back later, but lots to do on what looks like a pleasantly sunny day, with variable cloud.
Bluey, your Irish reporter failed to mention how the search facility under discussion seemed to have been interfered with a few years ago...(redacted)"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
Watch yourself, Dusty, we don't want to lose you (again)...
Another one with laptop troubles here - I dropped mine this morning and something fell off. It's clicked back into place, so I'm hoping that's it 'fixed'.
You're making me want to visit the Aisle of Widget now, YBE and Farway. Have a lovely time, YBE and take lots of pics.
Some things are sent to try us, twopenny. In my case it's midgesThe West of Scotland is particularly bad, but I don't think they're exclusive to here. I do think they're worse than usual this year though - they'll probably be here until September time, so I'll be praying for sunny and breezy weather because that keeps them away. I have two bites on my jawline from the other night and they're itchy as *insert naughty word*. I hadn't been out for a couple of days beforehand, so I wasn't tea-tree'd up.
Have a lovely holiday, wort. Are you going away or just off work??
The Iris pics are lovely, Dusty and twopenny. I used to have a wee Iris, but I think DH probably 'weeded' it.
I do like that word 'discombu99erated'I had to look twice at the one YBE and Farway mentioned
OT - it's breezy (yay) but a bit grey. We've got 40+mph winds forecast from 7pm - that'll blow the midges away!!'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
pink_poppy said:Watch yourself, Dusty, we don't want to lose you (again)...Aye, it's hard to know what one can say these days, and even harder to know what to believe. Research shows many folk have given up, so trust nothing they read or see now. Considering AI has barely got started, that's probably healthy on one level at least!.Aisle of Widget used to be like time travel, but my experience isn't recent. We last went in the noughties, and it felt like stepping back 30 years! Farway's covered most of the attractions, but I'll add Ventnor Botanic Gardens as worth a look. It was October and seeding time when we called!Had to drop everything today, having been offered 16 scaffold boards for free. I thought, “That'll impress taff!” 15 of them were OK too. What will I do without a big van? SiL is already temporarily turning 6 of them into concrete formwork for shed foundations. He's being a great Dad, but right now we need his woodworking skills.I can't remember what my lost post was, but I'll wish the holidaymakers good weather and plenty of interesting adventures, or long days of chilled relaxation, depending on what you enjoy most.
There's going to be some heavy rain here overnight and tomorrow looks windy again, but not 40mph
, fortunately.
Oh, I remember answering Farway's observations about Morries plant section with one of my own. Yesterday, they had a special offer on dead bamboo, remarkably similar to the one they had last year. It's pretty hard to kill that stuff, but they've done it 2 years in a row.Morries pelargoniums feature in today's photo, bottom left. They're out in the wild weather now, having overwintered well in the conservatory. The terracotta pot they're in came from the dump, long ago, before it was a recycling centre. Someone couldn't bear to throw it in the skip, so left it handily for me to find. They didn't have cameras then, either!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. How come you have wet when I'm across the channel and it's dry as a bone.Think you might be mixing them up with the little early spring-flowering ones (reticulata?) - Iris sibirica is rhizomatous (acc. to RHS), but not in a big way like the germanica ones, and mine is flowering nowI think you're dry because you're across the channel....Seriously tho, we had it dry t'other week when nearby locations were drenched with downpours; we've mostly had just damp, but more serious showers yesterday. I seem to remember you had it very dry most of last year, whereas here was 12 months of cold drizzle (at least that's what it felt like...). Location....

If I remember rightly from the weatherman last night there's a band of rain crossing over the whole lot of us. It's pouring out there now, windy and Autumnal and cold. Did yous get plenty wort Less 2p?
I really like your irises 2p, I can't help with the name (shocker!) but the colours are certainly attractive. They look as though they've been sucking a biro and the ink's bled out into their crinkles ha haa! Shame they don't last very long eh.
Ooh where you off on yer hols wort? Have a fab time
There's a sign on a gate I pass on my way to work 2p, it says something like "Absolutely no trespassers. We've no more room for the bodies."I'll nip over to the travel bit tonight, himself is working away so I've the whole place to myself. He's in BottomLeftLandia, but not quite as far as you and Dusty.
Ferry from Portsmouth Farway. Apparently there are white ships and red ships, and the white ships are cheaper but their website is an absolute pig and himself couldn't get a ticket booked on it, so we're going red and they're outta Portsmouth - itms. Thank you very kindly for the info, I'll read the links properly tonight. Tbh I might just use your post as the week's itinerary
Midges 'til September ppI thought they only lasted a few weeks but that's practically 1/3 of the year! Buy stocks in tea tree oil companies folks... Have you tried taking a hayfever tablet? It'll not stop you getting bitten but it might stop your system reacting so badly to the bites maybe? I am not a doctor, that is not medical advice etc. Yes that new word does say what you think it says, it's good eh.
So your aguileras are all interbreeding mongrels Less? I'd be perfectly happy with them. All the different colours and markings are beautifulAlso, I like your door mat
Ventnor Botanic Garden is on the list too now, thank you DustyGawd your garden's a belter
D'ya wanna come up here and do mine thankyouplease. Things I thought about at school did not include quadratic equations/oxbow lakes/the Roman Empire. They did include why didn't my dog eat his breakfast/will there be more calves when I get home tonight and can I have one to keep this time/did granny make wee fairy buns today. Much more important issues, obviously
OT well it's pouring in the rain and blowing a hooley out there. Feels like is 2'c (pfft), actual is 11'c, high of 17 to come later this aft. They say. They were right yesterday, if you take out the bit where they didn't predict the rain. Lovely evening it was
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6
