Wow, four figs Blue, looking good. Figs seem to fruit first, then leaves. Thinking about it, most fruits do, blossom first so bees etc can have easy access. Then leaves, so the rats have somewhere to hide.Gorgeous sunny day, blue sky and wall-to-wall warm sunshine promised for the week.I'm a convert to Jap anemones, never liked them but after some discussions on here last year, they've grown on me, and now I have three just starting into growth.Only bought on offer last year, so hoping they are as promised & three different coloursResisting the lure of Poppy's Lily of the Valley offer. I love them but don't have the right position for them. In the dog poo border at the front would be too dry, which is a shame but a fact.YoungBlueEyes said:Glad you’re giving peas a chance Farway <giggle> Did you get your other bits planted out?All being well, I'll get the poppy & daisy in there sometime this week with the nice weatherDahlias & toms in / out hardening off this weekPic time, my Judas tree looked grand in the evening sunshine, and the rose has opened.Judas was from seed decades ago, rose from a cutting at DD's, also decades agoEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8

Just a short post from me this morning; I've suddenly a lot of grass to mow!Out in the fields, growth has also taken off, and this year we have more of the above wild flower than ever before.
Maybe it was the mild, wet winter. Whatever the reason, they're welcome, though their time with us is fleeting.

I've got lots of lady's smock too Dusty - and I'm only in my first year of attempting to convert to meadow.6

I've got a flood of something I thought was ladysmock but a pretty little wildflower that I don't recognise.
It's right down at grass level and I mowed most of it but I'll give it a go tonight when the grass has dried out.
Loved the last apple blossom photo with the deep red, I didn't realise that different apple trees had different blossom.
Something to look into 😊I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

2p - you've made me want to go out and photograph all my apple blossom to see whether I can tell the difference! I've got some named varieties (new) and one old, unidentified one that was here when I moved in, and is looking MUCH happier since having a major haircut over the last couple of winters! The apples have been pretty inedible in the past, but the dog likes them, so if they don't improve, they'll be kept specifically for him!8

A wee water feature... Dusty
Why would anyone name an apple 'Pig Nose'?? Lovely photo of your non-pig nose blossom.
Congratulations on the figlets, YBE
What are the three colours of Japanese Anemone, Farway?? I've only seen pink ones and white ones.
Your Judas tree looks epic - amazing that you grew that from seed all those years ago.
The Lady's Smock pic is lovely, Dusty, I've never come across that before.
Lovely day forecast today - sunny and warmish at 17 degrees. I might even get into the garden today to dig up the weeds that will have been sprouting up over the last few rainy days...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Ooh your Judas tree is a fab colour Farway, does it smell as good as it looks? Hurrah for dried up dog poop leaving space for planting
That’ll be you set for the summer now eh Dusty, mowing and mowing. Lady’s Smocks are very pretty, if you’ve too many you may send them my way :nodding: Or you gb
Awww Anonymous Dog is an apple eater gbI always kept a few in the fridge for my dogs and on hot days they loved them. Never the cores though cos the pips contain cyanide…
I didn’t realise different apples produced different flowers eh 2p, interesting eh.I bought 3 pots of Japanese anemones with 3 colours - white, pink, purple. They took umbrage at the change of scenery and promptly died on me but, so I don’t think I’ll even get seeds off them 🥲
No Lily of the Valley for me thank you pp, I had a horrible aunt that always smelled of them. Was it Yardley did those flower perfumes..? Gawd I can smell it now. Is there a flower that smells like moth balls? I’d have those flowers by the bagful, cos that’s what granny smelt like
Another warm day to come here, and tomorrow, and the next dayBut then it’s back to normal so I’ll be happier then. So far this week the drunkards are nailing it, the sobers keep giving cloud for some reason. 12’c out there now, high of 22 to come. I’ll be glad when it’s Autumn ha haa.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -

Loved the last apple blossom photo with the deep red, I didn't realise that different apple trees had different blossom. They do, but a red flower doesn't mean red apples, on the inside, or outside. This tree has a very red-looking apple.......but the blossom is pretty average looking, albeit there's a lot of it!Bluey, I took a photo of what your 'Heavenly Blue' should look like if they regenerate from the base. This one has got itsef tangled in the front hedge, so those are stems of Cotoneaster simmondsii sticking up beyond it. The cotoneaster has failed in places, due to the harsh conditions next to the road, but the Glandora (formerly Lithodora) has come through flood and drought unscathed.pink_poppy said:Why would anyone name an apple 'Pig Nose'?? The Lady's Smock pic is lovely, Dusty, I've never come across that before..However, ours are even more 'snouty' and they have a 'perfumed' taste.Lady's Smock seeds exist, but I wouldn't buy any. They're so fickle, we often see none at all in some years!YoungBlueEyes said:That’ll be you set for the summer now eh Dusty, mowing and mowing.Like most of you, we have a couple of hot days approaching when we might hit 23c.Hopefully, that won't create any "anomalous atmospheric phenomena" of the kind being blamed for the collapse of the power grid in Spain and Portugal. Hmmm...they've never had anything like those conditions before?
See my sig!
Oh, and I like your latest, Bluey, though sodium chlorate is rather hard to come by nowadays.
It was very still here too yesterday evening, so we took the opportunity to fly the drone. It's so small and quiet, people nearby didn't notice it when we flew near them....quite scary when you think about it!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. For anti dog poo patrols.Would team up nicely with the death glare sheep mentioned umpteen pages backJudas tree, no smell, just looks.pink_poppy said:What are the three colours of Japanese Anemone, Farway??
