Awful weather - typical Brits talk

YoungBlueEyes said:Farway put a peg on your nose and take your trowel out and dig it in = free fertiliser innitI would, except I'd relocate it, off the premises, or under a hedge. Like greenbee, our cats go mostly under the hedges, 'cos it's dry and easy. Everyone else's cats are the problem.
Then there's hedgehog poo, which isn't so bad, and we're supposed to be glad to see it.
And finally, there are foxes...oh, and badgers. They're supposedly easy to ID, but I wouldn't know.
Sometimes, I've seen a poo somewhere and it's looked like dog. As we've no dog, I then wonder if someone's come in at the dead of night with their pet, rather than take it up the lane. After all, we have a phantom bin filler who can't be arrised to pull their wheelie up there. They drive their car up late at night, to fill others' wheelies with their black sacks instead. So, the padlock on the gate is staying.Since we're on dogs, some more controversy; they're now allowed in Rosemoor!Once a guaranteed dog-free zone, now we must put up with welcome four legged fiends.
Here's the proof:
And yes, Mrs Dusty found a poo!I'm sure it wasn't these two, who look to be very upstanding citizens, but I doubt the riff-raff will comply with the rules, especially in the woods and quieter places:
It's obvious what a passing bird thought!OT: A misty, moisty morning at present, but when it burns off we should have a fine day. The cloudless skies will give us 18c, maybe. No rain in prospect for a week, nor any frost, so those June tomatoes and cucumbers look even more likely.

Careful, you'll have us on misheard lyrics next!
Like Neil Diamond's “Reverend Blue Jeans,” the trendy vicar.Oh, and my favourite, “Take your pants down and make it happen!” from Irene Cara in Flashdance.I'd better add the real words are, “Take your passion, and make it happen,” but honestly, I can't hear them. Not buying into it.5 -
Well isn't it a great day almost to be! 20 degrees they say here..The greenhouse door and window are already open and I've soaked everything. I've also realised I'm a plantaholic as I seem to have enough to stock a stall at a show and yet more are also on their way and I still have nowhere really to put them...oops...That's a beautiful wisteria 2p, and fancy having roses now, I'm envious...shame the cake lady hasn;t got back to you yet but you never knowFarway, I have an apple tree planted as a pip from the previous allotment owner, does that count? And the cherry I thought was dead has sprouted from the side [and not as a sucker thank goodness] so I might try and train that around the exploded trunk. Glad your giving your peas a chance tooDusty, good detective wok there, and what planet does he come from to think people want rubbish? It's like the ones on freecycle saying if no one takes it it it's going to the tip. Well, take it to the tip then because it isn't a rubbish removal service. [and breaaaatthhheee...]won't be playing table tennis any time soon either...pp the plant looks more fruity to me but it could also be bramble fruity. Keep an eye...ybe, and the internet winner for grossest thought and image planted in my head today goes to you! And the winner is Cat Poo Fingers!!! Congratulations and a pair of nitrile gloves are winging their way to you!!I'm empting the one hotbin today to spread the love on the front garden and transplant and plant a couple of geums..I may have ordered many different ones I don't have from Farmer Gracy...oops again.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6

"Give peas a chance"... Brilliant, Farway
Thanks for the silicone suggestion, taff and Farway, I'll get some. Just have to lug the top of the bird bath into the garage to dry out, but that'll be a job for another day as it's forecast rain all day. I'll have a google of the aquatic sealant too, twopenny
Dusty, what were you doing up at 2am this morning?? Or shouldn't I ask?!I'd love Japanese Anemones, although they seem to be unpopular on here for some reason.
I'd probably put a wee bench against the garage wall, facing the newly dug out patch, YBE. I could make it into a wee sitooterie if I got some pretty plants around it. It's private and would be lovely to sit out there on a morning. I quite fancy a wee water feature too
It'll be interesting to see what the mystery plant turns out to be - it's certainly healthy looking. It's mixed/tangled in with Monbretia, ivy, London pride (??), Winter Jasmine, another mystery plant and Astilbe, so it's done well to get growing in amongst that lot.
My pineapple plant is having babies!! I noticed new growth on one side and on closer inspection there's new growth on the opposite side tooIn less good news, my new Calla Lily has lost two stems/flowers due to rotting, I think. It's possibly because I watered it from the top a few days ago, instead of from the bottom
It's a bit of a miserable day here - rain forecast all day and feels chilly. DH is away, so I might sit and watch gardening programmes all day. I thought I'd found a new programme yesterday, but it turned out to be an old series with an extremely young looking Monty Don as presenter...
Refreshed...
taff, Farmer Gracy has been popping up on my FB feed - are they any good?? I do like Geums.
Dusty, sounds like you should get a 'wildlife' video camera.
Edit - Farmer, not Father Gracy 😂'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -

OT. Remembering some food names when I was Navy, Babies Heads & S**t on a raft spring to mind, and of course Sweet Fanny Adams name came from Navy slang for tinned meat.

Back on T, also have courgettes to start hardening off, only two but as previous years have all gone North I think two is enough for now

Lovely and sunny here if not 20c
It's supposed to be my chilling out day before the madness next week but the sunshine makes you want to be out and doing.
Fairway do you think your bad legs are from stomping on so many beetles 🤔
Dusty like the sign. Much nicer than lamblasting people with dire threats
I like the idea of twisting the new cherry round the old one , can't turn the page on this to see for sure who said that.
Wort, 20c and emptying the hot bed. That's true dedication......or challenging idea 🥴
Bluey where you off to today?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

We have loads of Lily of the Valley plants popping up, so if anyone wants any, let me know as I’ll be digging them out anyway.
Pic taken on a sunny day…

I quite fancy a wee water feature tooPersonally, I try not to make the wee into a water feature!

It's amazing what we can film while still staying within the boundaries of our land, albeit at 100 feet!

https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/sweet-fanny-adams.htmlThat's interesting about Sweet Fanny Adams. I once had a boss with some military background, and he used "San fairy Ann" a lot. I always thought it was a corruption of SFA, but it turns out not to be. It's a corruption of "ça ne fait rien," or "It doesn't matter." Shows how much attention I paid to context!Another blossom picture today. The name is made-up. There is a genuine Pig's Nose apple. but this isn't it.Not buying into it.8 -
Morning all
Brief one from me for I’m running late.
Glad you’re giving peas a chance Farway <giggle> Did you get your other bits planted out?“Rules of paw” - lovely DustyBetter that than coming down on people. I’m having San Fairy Ann, it’ll go nicely with daddy’s Honi Swanky Mallyponze.
I’m sure our gardens are all expanding taff. I mean when was the last time any of us said ‘no it’ll have to go in the bin, I’ve actually run out of room!’ ? Thanks for the gloves ha haa!I love Japanese Anemones too pp but I’ve a real knack for buying kamikaze onesWoohoo for pineapple babies :clapping:
I didn’t go anywhere yesterday 2p Sundays now are washing and gardening days. Saturdays are food shopping and Domestic Nonsense. I didn’t get much done yesterday (too engrossed in my book) but the grass got a cut and I did some tentative weeding. And squidged about eleventy squillion greenflies off my rose buds. Erseholes. It was lovely here but the sun was a bit strong, you forget it can be burny when it’s only April.I got the shock of my life last night. I ring Cissie every Sunday night at 1930 no matter what. Well at 1925 my phone went and it was her FaceTiming meShe wanted to look at all the things I talk about in my garden, so she made Adored Grandson buy her an iPhone and teach her how to use it so she could see it. God love her, that woman is my heart’s beat
My fig tree has hit it’s teenage years - it’s suddenly produced fig leaves to cover it’s shameAs I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...8
