More Sungold tom seed, more salad leaves and lettuce, and a few 'nice to try' extras. That's definitely it now!

My rhubarb crowns are now £12.99, another MSE saving made. Now, for those who have yet to be tempted, it's FREE P & POffer ends midnight, 16th March 2025 or while stocks last. Excludes marketplace items. Use order code TM_TN5740W.There are still some reduced seeds there, I may just be tempted by 89p sweet peas, and more lobelia & Love IAM, just in case, at 89P it's an indulgence which could turn out wellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8 -
Lovely pic of the moon DustyI got up once at 3am to see the Blood Moon. Once was enough. Much more civilised to sit here with a coffee and look at everyone elsesIt's been a bit wild on the social front, from nothing to everything so it's fit in what I can with the gardening. Mostly I'm just eating stuff I've grown and may turn the freezer fruit into jam this weekend. We had our first sunset for months yesterday
Couldn't get a photo because it was low behind the houses but some lovely sky colours in the clouds.
I like the skies in March when it's slate grey with sun on the fields and white houses standing out.Otherwise it's still around 4c here, going up and down and with that tiny north wind to drive you inside. So here's a little pic I wanted for my Avatar but I need to reduce the file size and so far it's not working - though seeing it now I think it should be FarwaysI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Good morning everyone,
I have been away from the boards as my little dog was attacked by an Alsatian on March 1st. It was one of the most shocking things I have ever witnessed. Romeo spent three hours in surgery and is healing nicely. His tail is wagging again and I've been able to get all the drugs required into him via scrambled eggs and corned beef! I fear there may be no going back from this diet for him!
He had two huge wounds on each side of his body so I've had to literally stare at him 24/7 to ensure he didn't lick them! He has a little suit to sleep in but I wanted to get the fresh air to him to help with his healing. He got the thumbs up from the vet again this morning. He's going to look seriously scarred and dangerous by the time they heal fully!
It's been exhausting having to deal with Romeo but also the idiot Alsatian owner who has been giving us the run-around on the insurance front. I fear I'm going to have to go full Liam Neeson and track him down with my special set of skills!
I'm part way through catching up on everyone's posts - it's been so uplifting to see wonderful birds and rolling views along with signs of actual life in gardens! I was so happy to see daffodils and hyacinths in my garden this morning when I refilled the bird feeders.
I'm going to spend the afternoon catching up on the thread.

Oh WM that's awful!I went through that with my dog. And while I've had some wonderful GShepherds I've also had problems with them attacking one of my dogs. They need good discapline and training and the people who don't don't control them.I also had the problem of getting the cost of treatment out of the owners and they were neighbours and 'friends'. Not so much after.Love to Romeo.❤️Perhaps get him to track down the culprit while wearing armour!!How lucky he is to have an owner like you
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sorry to hear @Working_Mum hope he is doing ok
Lovely photos of the moon Dusty and Poppy, I was fast asleep, hard enough to get up at 7!
My camera seems to make everything really far away, the moon looked magnificent sitting next to the hill tops yesterday just as the sun dropped to the horizon, despite being large and bright to the eye this was the best my camera could do...
I'm one of the ignorant! Looks like they are mainly down on the south coast?twopenny said:I did look into taking UK trips to all the beacons from the Amarda times but it's surprising how little people know about them.
Trig points are keeping me busy enough, had a last minute cancelled appointment yesterday so dragged the little one up another hill to one by the coast, we trekked up a disused quarry and despite not being that high up the views of the sea to one side and the rolling hills to the other was something else.
Again rubbish camera doesn't do it justice but
Not a trig point but a nice view the other day, has been cold but a bit of sun in-between the clouds, I'm making the most of it before the rain starts, which will no doubt then forget to stop.

Oh no, I'm really sorry to hear about Romeo, W_M
My Niece's wee dog was attacked by another dog not that long ago and sadly didn't survive, so that brings back really sad memories, my Niece and her family were absolutely devastated
I hope Romeo is on the mend and can get back to his old self. Big hugs to you too, I know how much you love him
Lovely photos as always, lunatic - the weather and views look amazing and I'm sure your wee one enjoyed their impromptu trip up the hill - all that fresh air and sunshine
It's been cold and sunny here, but I've been stuck inside doing domestic and administrative nonsense, hopefully get out tomorrow.'A watched potato will never chit'...9 -
Them'll do rightly Dusty, your first one's a belter! A close call between that and pp's Red-dy Brekked wee acorn I think
I'll have to try to be a civilised person like 2p, and put the news on tonight to see what the people with the sober cameras got
Woohoo for seeds starting to show Farway. I must do some tomorrow or I'll be left behind entirely. Will it be 147th times a charm for your Love IAM..?
Wm how are you and Romeo doing? It's stomach churning when your dog's attacked, it's all you can do not to jump in and defend them. Finger's crossed you and your Special Skills track down the !!!!!! and make him pay! :allfingersandtoescrossed: Give him some gentle hugs from me
Those are cracking views Luna, are you somewhere in that Welsh Wales..? I've forgotten now if you said or not. Beautifully clear pics, you can practically smell the cold of the air
I'm another ignorant one here re trig points. I'll sit tonight and read up about them. Himself had a thing about beacons a wee while ago, and wanted to travel round the full coastline looking at them all. We saw the very nearest very few and then he gave up  Then he wanted to join the National Trust and look at the places, but that was rinse and repeat. We did a few visits to Belton House though, that was a really good one.
Well I can tell you that Tusky has either moved offices or discovered Rosie's Pig cos we got nowhere near the temps they forecast, possibly half I think. And the southerly winds didn't bring snow either! Thank god we don't pay for them eh ha haa!
Here's a little cheer for anyone who needs it. I have things growing in my garden, but not like I'd like them. I have the world's diddiest daffs, and half-yummy primroses (forgive the measuring stick, I really have to start patrolling with a 50p in my pocket) -
That'll have to do, I need to get the dinner on and the news!As I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...9 -
WM so sorry to hear of your little dog, hope he’s doing well.
I remembered the red moon, we were going out to eat and it was a lovely pink sky but bitter cold. When we got home and we’re on our way to bed I wondered what time it would be red as then it was a big fat full white moon. Unfortunately/fortunately I was off work so was not up at silly o clock and dgs was in college later, so not up early enough.
Yesterday was another cold but bright day , so I borrowed a pressure washer and cleaned the patio. It’s looking much better ,my plan is to use the HB wet/forget stuff in a few weeks after the frosts . I saw on insta someone use just the stuff but not clean first🤔 and looking at the instructions it doesn’t make it clear🤔
A full work weekend 9 hrs today ,10 tomorrow and 11 on Mon. So no more garden for me for a while. 0 degree at the moment with dizzy highs of 4 later.
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.9 -
Wort my Lovely Neighbour uses wet+forget and she doesn't clean first, if that's any help? Those are long work days, it's a good system of getting the hours in over the fewest number of days though
Nowt on the news about the Bloody Moon last night, but I've yet to check my news website so there might be something on there. Funny I thought Bloody wouldn't get through the pearl-clutching censors, but looking at my last post it's stewards of bars that makes them swoon
Quite a nice morning here, not a great dawn but there's hardly any clouds and the sun's up now and there's a wee bit of heat in it. It'll do I spose. I might be brave and get out and do weeding, but the soils that cold still I might not.
So here's this weeks absolutely free absolutely not legal advice made-y uppy story. If you and your wife are buying a house and the forms say you each have to sign then you do have to individually sign. You can't sign both boxes yourself in front of the receptionist with the justification "no it's fine - she's MY wife". That might play where you come from but it ain't true here. It's also not wise to suddenly remember you don't speak English and demand (in English) that we instantly provide a translator for you when the receptionists don't give in to you. And no, you aren't gonna miraculously beat the stamp duty deadline just because you start shouting and carrying on about how you can't afford it. In English. *sigh* Big Boss Man thought that was good fun though, really broke up his dayNot that it happened. Etc.
Who was it mentioned about bulbs etc in Lidl/Aldi, Ras I think? I went for a look yesterday and came back with a pack of bulbs that look a bit different, and a pot of fluffy daisies, which I absolutely have bought before and they've died on me. But my buggerance gene kicked in <nods to Farway for that one> and maybe this time they'll decide to make a go of it cos I do like them :fingerscrossed:
Also I'm working on a way to squirrel-proof my bulbs, but it's a work in progress... When I crack it I'll share it on hereAs I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...9 -
An awful experience for you and Romeo, WM. While it's a comfort he's going to make a sound recovery, the financial implications must be large. You can do without the extra worry of those, through an owner shirking their responsibilities. While I'm generally against over-regulation, in the case of dogs, there's too little responsibility attached to ownership. That's bad for everyone, and the dogs. An aggressive, insecure dog isn't any happier than its human equivalent.I don't think your camera's doing a bad job lately, Luna!
The trick to many of my photos is in post-production, though a long zoom and a decently wide aperture helps too, along with modern trickery, like image stabilisation. Your shots from those high vantage points make me a little envious, as I'm not sure if I'll be capable of similar climbs in the future, but we'll see.....
What wondrous mini-daffs you have there, Bluey! We do have a mini-primula, nicer than others, but with just one flower.pink_poppy said:It's been cold and sunny here, but I've been stuck inside doing domestic and administrative nonsense, hopefully get out tomorrow. That was our 'domestic nonsense;' relieving ourselves of a Transit-sized amount of laurel and the rusty old sheep hurdles we'd used to reinforce a hedge till it grew. Unlike our experience locally, the chap in charge was very helpful & pleasant, and a member of the public even lent a hand with the ironwork!
There were no threats to de-activate our van's ticket because we have racking on one side, but that wasn't so surprising. On Tuesday, I rang the County Council about that, to be told, "That is not a rule we recognise.” Bloomin' jobsworths!
Returning home, the clouds rolled in, and suddenly it was very cold again, so no more shirtsleeves! No frost overnight, though, and an improving temperature profile next week. I think it could be time to sow those more tender seeds now!
I recently mentioned taking out two large hazels that had grown, twisted together and blocked much light from the streamside, so here's a photo. They don't look very large in the picture, but to give context, the trunks were 8" thick or more at the base. Two thicker trunks remain on the left-hand tree, because they're on the neighbour's side, overhanging their fence. They'd break it if they fell on it.We haven't met the new neighbour yet, but we hope they'll agree the trees along the boundary are shared. Then, perhaps, we can work out the fate of the large, multi-trunked tree on the right, most of which is dead. The previous owners claimed to own all these trees and resented us cutting them. They also refused to do anything about the dead tree, which could do serious damage if parts of it fell. Although the trunk on our side is still alive and thriving, we'd be happy to pay for half the cost of removing the rest, and with it, the danger it presents.
P.S. The hazels will re-sprout from their bases, just like others we've done. Not buying into it.9
