I'm giggling away to meself here, would that make him a Singing Post Man 2p
Re the dog - if friend always knows best then I'd keep my mouth shut. The best outcome would be if she swopped the sheep dog for something less ..constant.... but maybe the Pawman will be a help. Tbh I don't think either she or dog will be happy, but some people won't be told *shrug* Anyway. Good to hear your heating is behaving, likewise your head/shoulders/knees+toes/knees+toes. And look at the roots on your hydrangea
I reckon your blackberry cutting and oriental poppies will be fine Farway, if anyone can make them live it'll be you. Maybe we should call you Frankenstein? <snigger>
/me waves to pp I miss my days as a 'dog whisperer', but then I remember that people are erseholes and don't bladdy listen and how frustrating it was, and I'm fine with meself again. That plane in your pic does look like it'll go across the moon, what a shame it didn't.
So you've a notion of moving again Dusty? Something smaller, or the same but nearer 'civilisation'? I meant to say yesterday that I like your frosty Gladys. It reminded me of a little ditty my 'uncle' taught me and sis when we were little (not an actual uncle, he helped up at the yard sometimes). It was about chapel hat pegs, and it was years before I realised how nawty it wasImagine the farm you just thought about coming up on ritemoove, it's a sign is that
Welcome orangeIt's not warm here either, and according to the forecast it'll be colder still next week :brrr:
No gardening today, we're off out to lunch. My friend Fie said she'd heard good things about a new spot that's opened so me and wm are off to check it out. It's called "Tete-a-Tete" so how could we not
OT not warm out there but the wind's dropped at least. The feels like will reach the giddy heights of 2'c later. Possibly. Right I'm gonna rake through me phone and see what pics are decent enough to share.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
The moon and planet/s thing. I didn’t get a good one but I did try -And a wee car. I don’t know what it is but I like it and I want one!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8

YBE - if you're ever down this way you can come and try your dog whispering on Stinky. Actually, he's very good most of the time, but does occasionally get bored and decide to take his bed apart or make a hole in a blanket. I think most people would be best off with stupid, lazy dogs, but think they want something else (I now know why a friend got a golden retriever... can't escape if the door/gate is more than half closed, if the fence is higher than about 2ft, and doesn't notice if you haven't walked it for several days). There are days when I wonder whether I should have done the same... and then remember about the hair!
Lots going on in the garden here - a sorbus cashmiriana, two crab apples (Harry Baker and Jelly King), a pink hawthorn, a merton thornless blackberry, and a black mulberry were planted yesterday. I'm waiting for two apples, a pear, a fig, and two plums (as well as assorted extra blackcurrants and gooseberries) to be delivered so I can plant my orchard and work out where the veg plot boundaries will be.
More importantly, my neighbour is doing a fantastic job on the fence. Where the posts are just rotten at the bottom he's taking off the rotten bit and putting in concrete supports. Where they are totally rotten he's putting in new posts. And he's replacing all the rotten cant rail. So not a small job - probably more time-consuming than replacing the whole lot, but less disruptive and less wasteful. Plus it's been something he can do while it's too wet/cold for his normal hard landscaping work - so he's coming and doing bits between other jobs, or when he's waiting for concrete to set!8 -
Ooo Greenbee you best start working on your digging muscles. That’s a lot of planting to do.
Farway that ISS pic wouldn’t have past my dgson without a hoax / never happened 😉 he loves to claim things didn’t . The ISS certainly looks like it was drawn on.
Luna the remote houses look lovely but not sure I could live so far from civilization.
Not a lot done here, weather been up and down we had freezing fog , sunshine and showers at the same time which caused a beautiful full rainbow with another faint one above it. No photo though as I was walking to the shop.
I’ve done a bit more at FIL house ,frustratingly slow. Solicitors dragging their heels regarding the will.
Thursday was the sunniest day this week and I got to the garden bit in front of my front door. The campanula was taking over and I spent an hour lifting all the large pebbles off to dig it all out.
My primroses are the same as those on 2p s photo unfortunately although in flower most have been eaten by slugs. The snowdrops are out so at least some survived my digging the shrubs out.
Yesterday was bitter cold north East winds , similar today. Out tonight by train to the city ,would rather be curled up inside but it’s a birthday treat for dgson . Maybe a rum and black will warm me up.
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -
Bluey, the photos (specially the first) are great, whether they show an alignment of anything or not. Personally, I'm not that fussed about this 'planetary parade' thing. What's far more interesting is that our solar system isn't typical. There was some sort of glitch when it formed, causing its uniqueness. Apparently, Saturn and Jupiter had a bit of a barney, which is why they ended-up where they are, on the outskirts. Brian Cox said that, so it's true.Your latest wished-for car is a Nissan Figaro. It was retro-styled even in the noughties, and its performance couldn't be classed as 'exciting,' however many heads it turns.
Not exactly cheap for a banger, either.
P.S didn't use my own postcode! The farm I'd just thought about, popping up like that on Rightmove, was definitely weirdThough the situation you described was different, my memory featured a legal pickle involving a marriage that quickly went wrong. That's where the interest ends, though. Although perhaps physically suitable, the new builds are in a more remote situation than this. We want the same size of house, in a more convenient place, and less land. Half an acre would be fine.
OT: Just the usual, dull 3c, but with no biting wind today. No new photos, so here's some more logs, mosses, and lichens."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8 -
Gorgeous photosReminds me that there are woodland places that aren't all dark and sodden and there will be once again.Luna you photo of logs is on the front page
Congratulations!
Bluey, well how funny. That's a car I spotted years ago at a car rally and fell in love with. Same colour too. Was the inside white? Then it turned out that the owner lived where I do and went swimming at the same hotel so I was just mad with envy.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

The ISS certainly looks like it was drawn on.The clarity of the picture is probably down to the lack of an atmosphere in space. I know there are people who say the ISS being occupied by people is a hoax. Certainly, there are times when it looks like their 'weightlessness' is due to being suspended on wires, but as the ISS is in close Earth orbit, I see no obvious gain in pretending it's something it's not.I'm far more interested in seeing the 'next' human journey to the moon. It seems very odd the 60s and 70s visits haven't been repeated, or if they have, those involved keep quiet. 2024 was supposed to be the year the US was to 'go back.' Now, it's 2028 or something like that. Apparently, they've had to re-learn much knowledge, 'lost' since the 70s. Dull, damp, dark & cold, says it “may” brighten up later, but looking like end of the World right nowYBE, the singing Post Man, that's worthy of inclusion in Bumper book of Dad jokesAnd I like the moon and lit up foreground tree branch, shame about you liking an expensive old banger.BTW you may already know, but for anyone who doesn't, putting the number plate in the Government car tax website will tell you the make & model of the next car you spot & fancy one. https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/Hope you & WM enjoyed the café Tete a tete.2P, rooting hydrangeas, who knew it could be so easy, and of course you have to grow them on, or give away?I have a donor hydrangea in mind now, at DS, and I'm over there tomorrow as well, maybe a twig will find it's way home? Also, I expect to finish up with him & family in GC café, so could come home with more than just a hydrangea twigtwopenny said:Also he's keen on singing in musicals in an amature way.........so I might get a song tooI read that as Armature, it happens after umpteen years on electrical workGreenbee, that is a lot of fruit coming your way in years to come, the Merton thornless blackberry I have, and it's a cracker IMO, just been tying mine in over the past weekI've always fancied, but never had space for, a mulberry, supposed to make great jamCongrats to Luna making the front pageDustyevsky said:wort said:Farway that ISS pic wouldn’t have past my dgson without a hoax / never happened 😉 he loves to claim things didn’t .
