Happy Birthday YBE - hope you enjoy the chocs and book. Did you get taken out for a swish meal??
I used to have Hawaii on my weather app, but it was too depressing seeing SUN SUN SUN every day
So, do we think Farway is of Vulcan blood then?? I'm sure Spock had green blood.
Lovely honeysuckle photo - is it white or pale pink?? I've never seen one that colour before.
And TB spray?? I didn't know that was a thing - I'll have to investigate.
I'm still the same with the spinning headI've had to cancel seeing the 'Prince of Darkness' (if anyone knows who that is) this weekend as our seats are up in the gods at the venue. I'm really disappointed as his last concert here was cancelled due to covid
DH is still going, so I'm sure I'll hear all about it.
The sun has just come out, but it looks breezy, so no tottering around the garden for me...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Thanks for birthday wishes folks
Didn’t get taken out for swish meal taffWell we went to Toby Carvery last Sunday which is v nice but Not Swish. It was only so himself could his fave lamb without it stinking my kitchen out 🤢 The chocs are his fave too, so I gave them to Lovely Neighbour for being lovely cos how will he learn otherwise 🤭 Will DH livestream or video the Prince to you or something? It’s a real shame you can’t go
TB40I will absolutely come down and shoot stuff for you Farway. I didn’t used to be a bad shot actually - I had to take over daddy’s gun licence when he tipped over into the Stop Now Ya Old Git age group so I thought I might as well learn to use them. I’m sorry I gave in to the police nonsense and handed them in before I moved actually, I really am. Anyway.
How are the lurgied ones doing? MrsD and 2p? And has the norovirus cleared off? (I’ve forgotten who that was  )
Here’s some right way up no warnings needed garden pics. Stuff wants to keep going, so I’m letting itIt’s mostly cloudy with a bit of sparse sunshine and mild with it. It’ll do.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -
Happy birthday 🎊🎈🎂 YBE , I must have missed some posts. You still have plenty in flower 🌸 there.
I have been for lunch for my friend’s birthday today, fish ,chips and peas gfree very nice too. Back home and I’m tempted to put heating on, it’s rather chilly even under the furry throw.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
You're getting your taff's and your pp's mixed up, YBE
Your garden is looking lovely, especially that last plant, which looks like a cross between a tulip and an orchid. Very nice. I don't think there's anything properly in flower here, maybe still an odd dandelion and the hydrangea.
I forgot about the TB40 - very witty from Farway
I don't think I've ever been to a Toby Carvery - am I missing out?? I totally get what you mean about certain meal smells in the house - fish being the obvious one - I've never cooked lamb so have no idea how that would make the house whiff.
I'm so disappointed about missing the concert, but it's obviously not meant to be. DH, I'm sure, will take videos. He's going with his pal now, so at least he's not going to be a Billy No Mates.
Get the heating on if you're cold, wort, I'm waiting for DH to come home to put the fire on here. The weather has turned really horrible this afternoon - wet and miserable, with a weird orange glow just now.'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Happy birthday Bluey
So you're another Scorpio. Sounds right
My b'day is coming up on a Sunday which is not great. Think I'll skip this one.
BTW did you grow those Cosmos from seed. They're doing well for late in the year. I've failed every time I've tried seed so snagged 3 pots from someone who bought them into TTennis and they've thrived.Love the white Honeysuckle FarwayThat's a corker!
Forgot to say the stars photo was excellent. I like to take my specs off when I look at the stars because then I see twice as manyYou're photos gave me the creeps Dusty. But that's the point? Wonder what Halloween flowers would be?Wort, are the lavenders for the allotment did you say? Would bring in the bees. And don't forget the nastursions (sp) to tired to look it up.Yes, the deer are compulsive. 2 stags about the same age running together. That's unusual and it really is compulsive to see what is going on with the herd with the autumn light and mist. Granted that was zoomed but they are nearer than the other herds. People are silent but they know you're there but won't go any nearer. It's forbidden to enter that part.Missed the shot of the ponies stood in winter sunlight. Couldn't get stop anywhere near.Gardening? well sunny today but the shadows long and cold. I tidied up a bit, cleaned the bird bath and hedgehog bowl. Not feeling the love what with leg and cold. I'll leap to at the weekend...........in theory.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Great photos all, as always.... Half-day trip to localish lake for OH to take pics (for watercolour inspo) gave me the opportunity to try out some wobbly reflection photos myself:...plus a duck bum...Having only ever seen one Egret before was impressed with the numbers seen here (think someone - Dusty? mentioned they are increasing in the UK) - at least 5 or 6, and managed to get a pic - if you zoom in ...
If you zoom past duck bum you might spot a bird at the end of the promontory which appeared to be upright sunbathing in the manner of middle-aged mediteranean folk - except there was no sun... think it may have been a cormorant (also present in some numbers)... Merlin bird sound app came in handy too from a nearby hide, identifying invisible Cetti's warbler and water rail amongst others...And while managing to get a photo of one bird meant I can't make some remark about having no egrets, I did manage a no bat pic for "spooky night" in the gloaming this evening:8 -
Oops, posted before I finished, making up for absence of spookiness in last photo with this oneHappy Hallowe'en everyone (though the whole idea seems incongruous), and happy birthday YBE from another Scorpio ...8

Late Happy Birthday, Bluey!
You have some great flowers, still looking fresh in your garden. That Tigridia's a stunner.
-taff said:OMG Dusty, you are secretly Batman and have a Bat Lair!! Now I can see why the driveway planting is so impressive...If that's a modern scarecrow that's a blummin good idea to have wafty skirts scaring the birds. I do like itSad to say, the lair and the headless scarecrow are both courtesy of Rosemoor. The skirt doesn't waft either, being soaked in resin, I think.Lots more sculpture to come, though!

DH is still going, so I'm sure I'll hear all about it.
I didn't have you down as a metalhead!I didn't think Ozzy was still up to touring, either? Or have I got the wrong end of the broom?
Not a fan myself, though I'm fond of Japanese metal, which is far less dark, and often female.
Speaking of dark, it clouded over here at midday, but remained dry, so I cut logs with the mains electric saw till lunch. Our visitors departed homewards, so Mrs Dusty and I had a long afternoon snooze. Mrs D's knee seems better today. She favours an ice pack over lotions and potions, but I'll keep the Tiger Balm on the back burner of my mind.....Halloween flowers, 2p? It might be the Bat Plant, if we're after a real one. However, it sounds somewhat demandinghttps://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/25098/tacca-integrifolia/details
....so I'm going for, https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/plants/_/papaver-somniferum-paeoniiflorum-group-black-paeony/classid.2000025271/"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity7 -
Oh no, now I want more plants and I most definitely want the bat plant, especially because it's perennial!Love the gloaming picture, that's a fabulous blue to have been caught by your camera. And I did laugh at egrets, I have a fewLove the flower pics, what are the red and peach one?Today I am cutting up what wood there is that I have wombled over time to make edges for furutre beds...And collecting some more cardboard.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

Thanks for birthday wishes folks
Aren't we a lovely bunch of people on here
Mmmm fish chips wort, yummy yum yumWere you beside the seasiiiide, beside the sea?
Oops sorry pp+taff! Unforgivable that is, your post is just before mine!I picture Farway as tall and skinny so yeah I reckon he could be Spock. Although depending how far the TB cream smeared itself maybe oompa loompa would be more accurate this morning
Toby Carvery is worth a visit if you have one near you. Best way to describe it is properly cooked pub grub in a weathersppons (or something) setting. As for the smell of lamb - it's the same as that greasy yacky coating you get on the roof of your mouth when you've eaten it, but on steroids. It smells far worse than fish, second only to rabbit imo.
I wonder why seeds wouldn't for it in your garden 2p? Mind at least you've got them going now so that's somethingAye my cosmos are from seed, ones that came with my (good birthday present) GW subscription last year. I was ever so late getting them going but to make up for it I did everything else to the letter. Planted them in seed compost, grew them indoors a bit even though it was summer outside etc. I reckon it's mostly down to the queer mild weather we're having really. I've still got a snapdragon in behind swish rose! Your deer are mesmeric, I'd never be in the house either if I lived there. Bit like a real life soap opera
I like your pictures Less, the first one looks like somewhere you could just sit a long while, and a good Duck BumThat's a concentrating dawg you've got there
What's the round thing at the bottom of the pic? Looks like a frozen disc out of a birdbath? Matches your frosty-looking grass
Good to hear MrsD's knee is getting better Dusty. Get some proper rest now your visitors have goneI like my Tigridia too, and there's another one thinking of coming out
They were only from either Lidl/Aldi if anyone else fancies some. I planted far more than have come up though, !!!!!! squirrels
Halloween flowers - what d'ya call those things that are orange coloured, papery, hollow and about the size of a pingpong ball?
Definitely a Scorpio (we do all have that streak in us, eh 2p) Himself came home last night with a box of Ferrero Rochers cos he actually thought I'd eaten all the Guylian ones (?!) I pointed out his error *ahem* and after he said some words and I used a bit of bad language, he topped it off with "I don't know what you're so upset about, you're not even a proper diabetic!"
Christ I could've throat-punched him.
Anyway. OT It's 11' and a bit sunny-ish out there now, high of 16' to come - which will be the overnight temp in Amritsar tonight.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5
