Hmmmm haven't made a move yet but I'm on my way.Tea would be hard to give up. I used to drink Camomile with grated ginger and honey (the real stuff Tea Pigs https://www.teapigs.co.uk/ available from supermarkets) These are a world ahead of the awful stuff you normally see but the price is steep. The bags are so good though that you can use them twice.I also found Morrisons Cocoa which is like dark chocolate - if you like dark chocolate. It's cold and cloudy here again. No real incentive to go and do anything. Need to start wearing slippers againYup the rats, they didn't used to be so bad but my neighbour has let the run behind the gardens get so bad I reckon they have cover and somewhere to nest.Right, lets see what today brings.............
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Dull & warm, suits me just fine because I think I may have Caught Something and may be in Sick Bay soonSneezing & coughing wiv a sore frote. But feeling OK generally this morning, so hopefully just a passing Lurgy?Good bad news about diabetes YBE, I suppose you will get used to eating within guidelines, a bit like my gout, once you know what to avoid it's easier to followI used to drink black milkless tea once, actually it's one of those get used to anything things. Now it's full fat stuff in my tea, so nothing to learn from me.!I think DGD has arrived, not heard anything, so presumably with her BF or something clever like rejigging her Mum's gardenDustyevsky said:Those apples look like those we have damaged by Redwings and Fieldfares, but it's too early for them. Maybe a member of the same family, like a Blackbird or Thrush?Good buy with those sleepers as well.Dustyevsky said:Ouch! My addled brain forgot all about Fred Dineage and 'How?'. As a child, I liked Jack Hargreaves best. He was the old fisherman uncle I never had. Once that clip finished, I went down a rabbit hole in Dorset with him in the very last episode of the country programme he used to present. Magic! One of the volunteers with me worked at Southern TV, Jack was a Big Wig there, director or suchlike.I think Out of Town is on Talking Pictures, and no doubt loads on YouTube.Nice Cardoon silhouette, another plant I want to grow but no roomThe only outstanding job, if lurgy free, is to finish off summer pruning of my pear. Luckily weather is due a heat wave so should have opportunity over the next few days.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

The bovine stuff now tastes distinctly odd.Hope no-one is tempted into pregrettable political reminiscing comment by mention of eggs... We might then be led back to the topic of toes...

I know they are too close, but they tumbled out before I could stop them.Curried eggs Less?Back OT, my runners are looking limp in the heat, it was only tipping down a couple of days ago. I'm off to water them, luckily the hose reaches so no lugging watering cans today.

Pregret... I love it
I hope it's been added to the Cambridge Dictionary.
Pregrets, I've had a few (to paraphrase Frank Sinatra)...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
I pregret bothering to make the fruit bags. Last one eaten, next one untied. The apples haven't even developed. It's been cold, dark and dreer all day. To add insult to injury I got soaked when at a nearby village but half way home it was still dry.I spent half an hour on the phone to a call centre and we moaned about the awful, cold gloomy weather - Poppy she was in Newcastle and has the log burner going
It's honestly so miserable with the dark. I can deal with rain, hail and snow providing it's bright.
I have a friend who uses Soya milk. Better than it used to be but still you can taste the difference. Almond milk was ok. How's that for the diabetes? Possibly roughage as well? That amazingly has very low carbs aparantlyI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I think you have to stick with the soya milk (and possibly other alternatives) rather than trying it occasionally - I really didn't like it at first... The soya seems to work in the same way as cows milk if you like your tea strong - it counteracts the tannins - whereas others (e.g., oat) don't; and I find the nut milks have too much of their own flavour (not sure what their sugar content might be either). I drink two large mugs in the morning, teabags left in after brewing for c. 5 mins before adding the "milk"...Tried to put washing out, at which point another sprinkle of drizzle arrived, hung it up inside instead, but Sod's law failed to function, instead giving another couple of hours of light rain, making digging up Blue Danube volunteers a less pleasant task than anticipated
Sun finally materialised c. 5.30, we are now promised days of sunshine - or we were - but some light showers at lunchtime tomorrow have suddenly materialised

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be our best weather for months - we shall see.
twopenny, I used to live not a million miles from Newcastle. Love the Geordie accent
We were out last night and when we got home about 11.30pm the stars were amazing - we just stood there staring up at the skyI love stargazing and I think even my DH was impressed. I've since seen pics of the aurora from 11pm last night, but I never thought to check my phone to see if it was visible here - I wouldn't know how to tbh...
Thundery showers on the menu today...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
ybe, that's pants, but good that you could reverse it...After my trip to the land of pasta I'll be low carbing too in an effort to bring mine down..and don't be too hard on the optician, at least she found it..sorry no news [ build ongoing, trip readying also, silly busy - how does making tea take so much time up?! ]Weather here is one minute sunny, next minute cold, next minute drizzle..I did hear though from my cousin in Italy that the tomatoes she got to make passata were small, dirty and hard, so it doesn't look like the weather was goo over there either..They were really late putting things in because it was so wet..But luckily for them they don't really get slugs although I expect the snails are voracious enough..Must pick my one ripe Sour Burmese and save some seeds for next year today.Posting and running...Where's Arb?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6

Aww Dusty your cardoons look like a family hugging and waving goodbye to someone sailing off into the sunset... or maybe I was up too late reading last night. Lovely shade of pink you selected there
Did container lorry Armageddon pass without incident?
Yep I am grateful the optician spotted something was amiss pp, but they way they handled it (charging for an explanation) was beyond the beyonds imo. Yes we have spotted something but if you want us to tell you what it is you'll have to book another appointment and that'll be £65. Err no way pedro. Write me a complaint letter Less will you, after you've done Dusty's 'apology' ha haa. You have lovely days ahead, get the washing ready!
Ooh I agree with both teapigs and dark choc 2p. My last boss used to drink those, as a cold drink though, made with soda water in a flask. Very refreshingAldi/Lidl do a dark choc+raspberry bar which is beautiful, and a dark choc with orange + almond. It's very dark though, you can only eat a couple of squares
I used to drink black sugarless tea years ago Farway, 'til my dentist told me it was making my teeth thin. It's the whole thing about the body needing calcium to absorb the vit d so takes it from wherever it can get it (if not enough in your diet). So thigh bones - essential, leave those be. Teeth? Not essential, we'll get it from there. <---That was just a nostalgic lifestyle conversational point and not medical advice. Etc. Anyway. How's the lurgy today? Did you beat it into submission with Eau de Vie? Did the tree pruning go well?
"Pregret" I love that LessShe's no Carol Vorderman but I like Susie Dent. Thanks for the suggestion of different milks, but they're not for me *boke*
I can put a bit less milk in my tea and drink fewer cups, but that's as far as I'm compromising. I'll squiggle the rest of my diet about a bit, it'll be grand. Who's forecast your showers for today...? That'd influence me whether to believe them or not...
So the weather's mad all over then taff, I wonder what's going on out there... How's the works coming along? If you're running short of teabags, B+M do big sacks of Yorkshire Tea bags for about a tenner, and those big urns you used to see at village fetes are probably available on fleabay
Dunno where @ArbitraryRandom is, but I'm gonna guess - she's running round like a mad thing having spent too long sat on the sofa eating tatties. She's roused herself from the ennui having realised that the world is a marvellous place in general and will come back with photos galore and stories we'll be sat here gasping at and laughing along with and feeling a bit jealous.
Don't worry about catching up Arb, just jump back in
OT - same forecast as yesterday really. Mostly cloudy but the sun poking through a wee bit, and a good breeze. They forgot to mention all the showers yesterday (7 of), enough to stop you putting your wash out but not enough to give the garden a drink
Edit - I forgot to say pp, for checking for the aurora - have you got the Ventusky weather app on your phone? It’s one of the options when you click the symbol in the top right corner. It shows the whole country and gives you a % chance of seeing itI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5
