If only I knew of a good defence against voles - they burrow in from underneath; cat probably most effective but we don't have one...

Machine Gun Kelly - that made me laugh! 😆 I had a quick run round my little Aldi this morning because fomo, and found Piccolato toms on the Super6 stand - £1.09 for 220g. Have you an Aldi between you and the volunteer spot Farway?I remember your gooslings 2p, look at them now! 😊 Good luck with your bag filling 😉 I’ll look out some cheery uppy pics…
Less would voles respond to those sonic wosnames that are meant to deter moles…? Or thinking of it from the other way round, could beetroots be grown in something vole-proof…?Edit - also in Aldi I got petunias. They’re £1.89 each so I lifted 3 queer coloured ones. These can go on the list of CommonThingsWotMakeMyHeartSmile 😊 There were regular plainer coloured ones too though, if that’s your thing.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -

Chantenay are supposed to taste as carrots used to.YoungBlueEyes said:Machine Gun Kelly - that made me laugh! 😆 I had a quick run round my little Aldi this morning because fomo, and found Piccolato toms on the Super6 stand - £1.09 for 220g. Nurse gave me special dressing , and told me to take it easy, I go back to consultant next week so a final visit hopefully.
Arb that’s a good haul , I’m regretting not trying potatoes now.
Farway pick that bean before any critters get at it.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Aww the gosling have grown, and what a great pic of the hedgehog.
I got some of those offer tomatoes from Aldi but I’m rubbish with seeds, I do love to eat tomato seeds though and don’t understand those chefs that take them out and throw them away.
Today started warm and sunny, but just gone black clouds ,having to sit in conservatory because I’d need the light on in the front room.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Well I've come back with 2 boxes of Chicken poo at £3.50. I had to ask the price because there was no label and couldn't believe it for such a big box +25% extra. Now looking forward to my plants looking healthierIt' pongs and so do I for carrying them! The nice lady took my money and got a trolly, because I was fading, for them to sit in so I could go back with the car and leave the engine running to collect them. She was telling me that she takes the damaged and dying plants that are delivered and puts on her First Aid table. Then she repots them, even baskets are replenished, waters and feeds. That's why they all look good. And no, you can't have herWent looking at cars but when I came back to mow the lawn etc it started raining. Only a bit but enough to make you not want to go out. It's soooo grey and dark that it makes you feel the same.Wort I missed your post. New dressing, that should help. Nice and fresh and clean.Fingers crossed for you next week
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Cloudy and cool - ish at 17' but it's too heavy and sticky for me. The breeze will hopefully sort it out.
Good luck with your new dressing wort, don't be doing anything more strenuous than gently floating about the garden like a swish lady. That should keep your consultant happyHow are the stitches doing now, you ok?
Hurray for lovely helpful staff 2p, she sounds like a good'un. Your grey weather has slid up over this side so maybe you'll have sunshine and heat now. Is chicken poo good for everything or just specific things...? Is your car a goner then if you're looking at new ones, or you just being prepared..?
Big old baths sound like the answer then Less, and woohoo for finding more beet root than you thought you had
Stuff to do today. I've got Handsome to walk (Lovely Neighbour's walker has cancelled), an actual proper medical diabetes test at the docs, then gardening, probably with Handsome. I need to hump stuff round to make space for a load of bricks to sit - picking them up tonight - but still leaving a good path for soil removal on Saturday. I need a bigger garden. Or fewer plants and things. Mind I'm 3 down cos my lavenders finally finally diedSo I've 3 nice pots looking for a filling now. The petunias were destined for my hanging basket at the front but...
Here's a couple of pics from our travels last weekend. It was a very long walk from the house to the garden. Past the fellah on his 'oss, past a beautiful old school, across a polo field, then you come to the gardens. Absolutely beautiful, well worth the walk. I came over all pedantic when I saw the sign and then saw the plant in there. I've not seen one this colour before so hopefully it's something a bit special and rare, or at least not common.17 miles we walked that day. It’s a long old poke from Her house (I don’t mean Mrs PB) to the Valley Gardens and back. Worth doing it but my god our feet disagreed
Also a sitooterie at the gate on the way in -The next person to post will be the start of a new millennium! Well, post count wise I mean...I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -
YBE I think I’ve seen a post before saying that plant is a different type of buddleia, then again don’t take me on cos I could be wrong😂
I certainly could be persuaded to sit oot at that lovely pub what a difference the hanging baskets make. Did you have a minute and refreshments.?It rained eventually yesterday and it’s looking likely this morning, though not looked at forcast.
less imp good news on the beetroot, I do like them.
2 p you are lucky to have a plant first aider at Morries and she’s lucky to get time to do it, I’d love the time at work to see to the plants, it’s always too busy/ not enough staff.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -
Wet here, seems there “maybe” showers along the Channel coast, not so much “maybe” here
, it's that sort of damp drizzle stuff where you think no coat required until you find you're soaked.
Blue, wort is correct, the plant has been mentioned, it's a globe buddleia, not too rare, just most grow the purple spikey one. Bees love them.I had one, the car park variety, turned into a thug so oiked it out.
And chicken poo pellets are good for everything, well possibly not some rare exotic plant that no has heard of.The good thing is you measure it by the pawful, no need for spoons etc, just sprinkle about & scratch them in. Or mix into the soil before you plant something. And it's organic, so pat on eco back there. Just ignore the battery shed phosphate run off into rivers.twopenny said:Well I've come back with 2 boxes of Chicken poo at £3.50. Just in case the smell gives any furry creatures the idea of free grub.I wonder if repotting is general at Morries now?I noticed some plants looked like they had just been repotted. It would make sense given the terrible waste there is, there was a trolley full of dead plants yesterday. Maybe someone actually did some sums?Another beetroot lover here, I have tried growing some here, but space is limited, as is a bendy back. I used to grow loads when I had an allotment, including the yellow ones.Today is the turn of my Merton Thornless blackberry, not long to wait now.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8
