Zammo,
You've been waiting for four years to buy a house? The four years have come and gone and you've still not bought one?
I think Nicki was bang on with her post - maybe you don't actually have the stomach to go ahead and buy.
Owning a house is not for everyone - and it is maybe time to acknowledge that to yourself.
Then nobody has to suffer the consequences of your dithering.0 -
By the way, if you really are considering a purchase now you are a lot more idiotic than I gave you credit for. Can you honestly see prices rising or even staying level over the next year?
There's no need for the insults at all. You seem to assume (like 90% of other users here it seems) that people only buy houses as an investment. Some people are happy with a HOME, somewhere they can live their life and not have to check every week to see if their house price has gone up or down 0.17%.0 -

So you're advising people to buy at the peak of the market. Great advice. Well done.0 -

Unfortunately the lady he was referring to buys houses as an investment, does them up then sells at a profit, it's her job..0 -
Unless i'm very much mistaken i didn't advise anyone to do anything at all. Next insult please.
Insult? My you are touchy.
It's exactly what you are advising. Look upon it your purchase as a home you say, despite the fact you'll be losing 1k on it each month and if you hold back for a few years you would have saved yourself tens of thousands.0 -
If you're so well researched as you suggest why haven't you decided? Surely it's a no brainer. Or are you worried about the state of the property market?
Do you know what? I typed that and woke my husband up to ask him why we hadn't made an offer yet. Because even if the house is only worth what we've spent on it in the future, we will still be able to buy somewhere larger for the same price or a smaller differential.
I am a bit concerned about moving yet again. My seven year old is going to be mighty peeved and I don't know how many kids are in the immediate area. tIt's brilliant for him here on a new build estate with culdesacs etc. I quite like it here, but I haven't painted a wall a colour other than magnolia, gardenia or ivory in 4 years. But I have a bigger house here for a little less money per month based on 6% of the value of the house versus the rent on this. I also have the small issue of a rather large house, owned by the company, to sell elsewhere which would pay for the prospective house outright and then some. I'd need a mortgage right now, which is hardly the end of the world, considering that I pay rent anyway as well. And I've been looking for 18 months for a modest house that will actually compete with the cost of renting and provide me with the magical 'added value' which is like gold dust in this area.
Oh, and I'm a spoilt cow so I'd want it all my own way as soon as possiblee spare clear out the MFI show kitchens when I know they're going to be closing down soonEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Advice? I'll have to be more careful what i say in front of you then. I mentioned that some people view their house as a HOME, and not an investment. If that is advice to go and buy a house then i'll be damned.
So as a homeowner now, every month that goes by i will see 1k go out of my bank account? Oh no, that's not right is it, because i wont be watching every month looking at how much i could sell my house for. The prices that potential buyers are willing to pay isn't going to bother me one iota because i'm not going to be selling.0 -
