HSBC or RBS?

I've had a lot of issues using my RBS card recently, not sure if its something to do with the official merger/rebrand to Natwest.
I even ordered a new card, and that one worked sporadically. When I contact their help, its great it texts you back, but it flipped between saying texts were from RBS or Natwest for the same account, so not sure if that was the issue, or if I was a one off or not.
I cant comment on HSBC, but if your purely looking to switch just to bank the signup offer, then take the best one.0 -
If you needed to visit a branch in person. Which would be most convenient? With bank branches closing at a steady rate something I'd keep in mind.0

The simplest option is to put you on ignore, you continue to post irrelevant information that derails threads, that is against forum rules. You do what you want, don't presume what you are doing is any better than anyone else and it is your holier than thou attitude that is causing the issue. Stop derailing threads and start your own to discuss what you consider to be your own issues, we can then happily ignore you and you can see if you have any responses, you may do but I doubt iy.gsmh said:
Thank you. It would be wonderful if members didn't attack me every time I post.RG2015 said:Amen.5 -
I agree. I will continue posting, as I think you should. There needs to be a more balanced debate of this 'free-money' malarkey. This forum has degenerated and grabbing free-money seems way too important to some people. It's like they're on a mission. I have ignored a couple of prolifics and the swamp fog is starting to clear. If you want to ignore ethics so be it. I am still very interested in these alternative ethics though, where RBS and HSBC come higher in the league tables. Both you and @colsten have suggested there is more than one. I remain intrigued.NottinghamKnight said:The simplest option is to put you on ignore0 -
You really don't understand. Post where relevant, when people discuss options they don't want someone continually popping up saying, you don't want to do that because I think it's immoral and I know better than you. It's like a neighbour objecting to planning permission, the extension being granted and being built but the neighbour going round every day to say I don;t think you should be building an extension, do you see the analogy now? Or posting on a football discussion forum saying I don't like football.gsmh said:

Martin and MSE promote these switching 'bribes' so you are actually posting against the website and forum's proclaimed purpose, please stop and create your own thread where you can claim you higher moral view with like minded individuals. You are derailing threads and will be reported for that.4 -
Clearly you don't understand. You say what I post is not relevant. I say it is. A thread is like a conversation. Interjections are perfectly normal. On a public forum many more read than post and my views get through to many more people than just your neighbour building an extension. As to posting on a football forum that I don't like football - that is completely flawed. I love banking, I enjoy budgeting, I love EARNING money through graft. This forum is about budgeting and bank accounts NOT just leeching free money. Anyway, I thought you'd blocked me?NottinghamKnight said:You really don't understand. They are pretty equally poor but RBS probably has better digital services e.g. emergency cash plus access to the NatWest branch network.gt94sss2 said:
RBS is likely to be less hassle (i.e. quicker) to open but HSBC is likely to be the better bank accountfly-catchers said:Thinking of transferring my Tesco Bank to either HSBC or RBS for their bribe! But which might be less hassle? As going through various threads HSBC might be worse! And as I am still having problems accessing and using my new Virgin money account don't need any more complications if I can help it!0 -
That access to emergency cash through a code generated in the mobile app is a killer feature should you be stuck somewhere without any money. Less relevant now with easy access to contactless payments through your phone, but potentially really useful should you need cash specifically. I'm surprised other banks haven't picked it up.dahj said:They are pretty equally poor but RBS probably has better digital services e.g. emergency cash plus access to the NatWest branch network.0 -
Thanks for the variety of comments! Think I will try RBS first! And fingers crossed!
On a different note is there any way I can access this forum with my ipad without having to disable JavaScript? cheers.0
