Use Aqua as main card, opened 11/19, had 1 credit limit increase, started at £900 and now up to £1,500, pay off in full by DD. .5% cashback limited to £100 a year. If you have a low credit limit you can make a payment mid month with your debit card to enable you to earn more cashback.

Not Aqua but I started with Vanquis at £500 and its currently at £3250. All increases have been within the last 18 months, when I first got the card. Paid off in full every month, never utilising more than 30% once it went above £2k.

Also recently got a 118118 Money card about 6 weeks ago with £1200 limit.

Several defaults on my credit file from 3 years ago, nearly all settled in full (just got into financial difficulty for a period).
  • Started out on 250, six months later, 400, 3 months later 1500.

I got the card in January this year to replace my Tandem card (this is when Aqua still offered the cashback card).
I was given £1,200 limit to start with, this went up in May to £1,500 and then in September to £2,500.
I put anywhere between £0 and £3000 through the card each month.
It's still my lowest limit however - highest being with Amex (£49,700).
49k limit on your Amex? You can't be serious? I would find that amount of credit available frightening and I have a lot of self control compared to most

Vanquish must have some confidence in myself.
When limit was raised to 4250.
Thankfully, paying towards 1460 Balance, which I'm certain to make a 150-250 payment to early 2021.

AmEx does seem to give pretty generous credit limits. My AmEx limit is almost double the best I've ever had on any other credit card (and roughly ten times the highest amount I've ever owed on it). My AmEx limit did start out quite low by my standards, but was increased significantly about three months after I got it and then by a lot more after a year. Those increases were, however, only given after I'd demonstrated a responsible usage pattern: I've always paid it off in full every month.

  • Not Aqua but Marbles which is the same thing from the same lender. Started with £600 limit last June and was increased to £1600 at the end of August. This month I have been offered a 0% for 6 month balance transfer from them but unlikely to take up the offer.

Aqua advance was my first CC, approved with £300limit raised to 2700 after 9mths. Reduced by them to 1500 after let's say 1 year (when they reduced limits to loads of people, dony know exact time). Been used here and there... Sometimes 3-4 months in a row, sometimes unused for more than 6 mths. After aqua I had virgin and Bcard with way higher limits but again, not being used. Once I finish my process of remortgaging my house I will close aqua and virgin and keep only 1 card in case of hiring/paying a hotel deposit etc. I don't need debt on my name.
Be very careful with credit cards and limits because it's very easy to get an increase and spend on it but hard/difficult to pay it back. Think twice.
Ps. I never had debt but learned from people from here or closer to me(family/friends) isn't a good idea to hold "available debt" on your name.
