Started in 2019 at £450 then after 6 months £1700  where it's been ever since, going into the browser and asking for an increase gets me a refusal  It's a NewDay card though - and I also have the Amazon platinum card which I started around 9 months ago, and that's already up to £2250. I use both often, and always pay in full by direct debit.
I read somewhere that NewDay and Vanquis had stopped credit limit increases for the time being
The Amazon increase came about 2 months ago - so definitely well into the 'pandemic period'.

NewDay are still increasing- they upped my Marbles limit from 450 to 1450 in August. Vanquis have also restarted their increases- I’ve spoke to them on a couple of occasions regarding this.

  • Started at £300, almost a year ago.
Upped to £1500 4 months later. Reduced to £250 last month for “changes to my credit file” (which, there wasn’t any). Still have the card but since they decreased my limit I now have an Amex who gave me a £5000 limit.

When I used it for all my daily spending it started at £500 then every 3 months they kept increasing it, £500 -> £900 -> £1800 -> £3200 -> £4000 . Then I stopped using it as I managed to get better cards once my defaults from 2012 had dropped off and they reduced my limit down to £2100. Still got it and use it for the odd transaction to keep the green 0's on my credit file.
What timescale for Better rates after defaults dropped off.
Was it Months or a year or two later.
Last one of mine is off Feb 21, though dmp wont be fully paid off until mid-late 21'
    Thanks

I am trying to get my Aqua limit increased and it seems impossible.
On previous cards I have always used the strategy to max out, repay in full, rinse, repeat.  Limit increased to something ludicrous in no time.
Same strategy is not working with Aqua.

Sounds like Aqua are a lot better than CapOne. I applied for CapOne last year as my first CC. Got a £200 limit. They increased it to £450 after 5(?) months. 15 months later, still at £450. Can't request a limit increase. It won't even let me access the form. Just says no before I even get to it. Since getting the CapOne card, I've got two more CC's from mainstream lenders which have limits of £4,500 and £5,500. And MBNA have given me "guaranteed acceptance" for a £5,800 limit. Weird.

Over my period of financial recovery - I've had two capital one cards - the classic and the Luma (The Luma is a 'powered by capital one' card).

The classic started at £400 - went up to £800 after a year, and didn't move after that.
The Luma started at £400 and didn't move after a year.
I called them up - closed the Luma - and moved the limit to the classic - so that was now £1200.
Nearly another year of spending paying off in full didn't lead to any further increase - so have just closed the classic as well.

So yes - it appears the Aqua/Vanquis cards of the world do appear to offer a better progress on limit increases.
