Do you keep receipts?

receipts stay in my wallet until I get bored enough to put them on my shredding pile. I occasionally save receipts for expensive items, but most of that is online these days anyway.
I should check them, because I've been overcharged in a supermarket recently as they miscounted.
I don't tend to & I certainly don't go through reconciling my credit card statement. If the supermarkets slipped extra charges though then I would probably never notice.

I keep receipts for the big things/warranty matters/where I think I might return something.
For all purchases I record them in Home Accountz. This allows me to reconcile with my online statements. I log in 6x a week to do the reconciliation and check that the balance shown is the same as on Home Accountz. Very occasionally they don’t reconcile but normally sorts itself out in a day.
The other times they didn’t reconcile is when I was carrying a balance on my credit card. The statement balance was always higher than Home `Accountz. I think this was because the statement balance included interest, but this was not shown as a specific line on my statement. Once I paid off the money owed, the balances reconciled again

I keep The small machine receipts and check them off against my monthly statement. I then shred them.
i always keep in a file shop receipts for big items.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.1 -
The main reason for keeping receipts is as a proof of purchase, cross checking with statements is secondary, If you can't do the former with you're banking app they're not largely redundant.maferit1909 said:
I did say largely redundant, not completely redundant. I see no point in keeping the vast majority as a means to check statement. Mobile notifications will tell you instantly if transactions are being carried out without your knowledge.NaughtiusMaximus said:
I highly doubt most retailers would accept that as proof of purchase if you need to return an item.maferit1909 said:Receipts are largely redundant these days. Use your bank's mobile app to alert you automatically of any purchases made on your card. It is virtually instantaneous, I hear my phone notification ping at the checkout before the receipt has been handed to me.0
