Cold call for re-inspecting loft insulation

I realise this thread has been resurrected from over 2 years ago, but the content still has relevance. Unfortunately a barred call list these days is of little use. The caller almost certainly is using a 'spoofed' number to display i.e. not the number they are actually calling from, and it will change all the time. I'm seeing more and more calls supposedly from my local area code. I presume they think you will be more likely to answer those.

PrudentEllie said:I've just had another phone call about this (I had one last year) - 'We're in the area..... Free inspection and replacement... government scheme.'Had a slightly different variation on this last month. An offer of a free thermographic survey, to which I said yes. "Surveyor" visited, waved a little camera around and prodded the walls with a protimeter (non-contact, not one with pointy probes). Then came the sales pitch.... Asthma UK has done a report on fibreglass loft insulation and found it to be a contributor to mould spores in the home (B.S. No.1). Fibreglass only has a life span of 2.5 to 5 years (B.S. No.2). We recommend removing all the loft insulation and applying spray foam. Told him quite firmly, that I would not use the stuff and risk devaluing my home and promoting rot in the roof timbers. The response was "Well, we supply full certification that is accepted by all mortgage providers, and our foam is fully breathable" (B.S. No.3 and 4).Thank you for wasting an hour of my time, failing to provide a thermographic survey - Now [redacted] off, and do not have children.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
