Scotland to England

I'm as confused as everyone is about the rules between Scotland and England and wonder if someone can help? I live in Scotland and am fully compliant with the new rules about not going into other houses, etc. I want to visit my brother, who lived in a non restricted area of England. Is that allowed? Neither of us want to break the rules, but can't find a simple explanation anywhere! Many thanks in advance!

If, there is nothing keeping you in Scotland and nothing stopping you visiting the area your brother lives in then just go. Obviously if either/both knew you had been close to confirmed covid cases you would avoid until you had isolated for 14 days. Only you guys know where you have been and who you have mixed with and if there is any danger or uncertainty then don't. Sometimes you just got to use good old judgement and common sense.1

And I see no general restrictions on travel from Scotland here....https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-what-you-can-and-cannot-do/pages/seeing-friends-and-family/1 -
there are no restrictions on travel apart from the lockdown areas. You can stay overnight as long as it is with one other household.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-do/coronavirus-outbreak-faqs-what-you-can-and-cant-doYes, you can stay overnight in someone else’s home, but only if you do not form a gathering of more than 6 people. You may only form a gathering of more than 6 people for an overnight stay if it is with your support bubble.
You should ensure you maintain social distancing with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble. Take particular care to maintain excellent hygiene – washing hands and surfaces – especially when using shared facilities like bathrooms wherever possible.
People in the same support bubble can stay overnight with each other in larger groups as they count as one household.
Of course it all change this week, next week.............

Is there any wonder the guidelines are broken, when large parts seem a little blurry!0 -
Nicola can dictate whatever she wants, but as soon as you get to Carlisle or Berwick (or wherever), and I see nothing to prevent this, the English rules apply so I have no idea what Missile is on about.0

it has always been said that you follow the rules for the country you are i
So yes,in Scotland the OP could not go inot his brother's house, unless they formed an extended household bubble.
But in England there is no such rule.
After all, you can travel abroad so why not to a country in the Common Travel Area.0 -

It is quite clear, those who live in Scotland ought not visit other households. As I stated, if you need clarification contact Scottish Government.
However, I would agree there are many who ignore the rules and there are glaring contradictions.
