Can I connect the fridge's water line to the washing machine supply?

    Can you clarify that your fridge freezer is in the garage? there is a minimum working temperature for these, is the garage warm enough? and yes you can just plumb it in there if you change the connectors.

    Fridge/freezers work perfectly well in garages and outbuildings , there's probably 1000's up and down the country humming away happily , my family have done this for years with no issues

    I think Tony's point has some validity, at least accordingly to installation instructions. Ironically, the room cannot be too cold if the fridge is to work properly. Whether this is specific to, say frost-free, models I don't know, but I recall being more than a little surprised when I read this in my last FF's booklet.

    EDIT: Just did a surf. It might be to do with the replacement to CFCs. Newer fluids are not so volatile so need a milder ambient temp before then can do their stuff and release the heat outside the fridge/freezer. Actually makes sense. 

    As Hh says, tho', there are many out there working away happily enough in garages. Whether that's 'cos the garages don't become too cold, or the models are older or whether it's just rubbish info, I dunno...
