Can I connect the fridge's water line to the washing machine supply?

Our new fridge freezer has a water dispenser and ice maker, which I'm trying to work out how to plumb in.
It's in our garage and there are plenty of copper pipes around, but rather than cut into one of those and have to solder a new connector in, I'm wondering if I can make use of this connector that supplies the washing machine. Is there any kind of fitting that will allow me to unscrew this, screw in a connector to the fridge and then screw the washing machine connector on top?

Just searched it, seems an american idea originally, an adapter fitted enables the facility to a lot of washer machines, it seems.

First thing to check is that the cold supply to the washing machine is 'mains' water and not from a storage tank.

Norman Castle's Y branch should do the job - certainly can't see any reason why it wouldn't - or you could go one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/self-cutting-tap-15mm-x/21250 which is an easy DIY fit and will give you separate control taps for each item.
