Debit Card transaction limits

Santander has always had a debit card limit, but has never published it. I have been able to make debit card payments up to £50K. The limit may not be the same for everyone in all circumstances. Phoning Santander in advance does not help, but they may be able to help if a payment is refused.

Debit Card Payment
I paid 17k for the balance of a car by NatWest debit card albeit a few years ago. Still had to go through security on the phone albeit just password and username. Went through ok.

I bought a car using my Halifax debit card for £12,900 on Saturday and then used the same card to pay for the road tax, all done in a few seconds.
