Ah right - will look more carefully at the SOA! :)

My only concern is that if they see large sums going in, if going to court, they might ask why it wasn't shared equally among all the creditors(obviously the interest was the reason!!), but really, if no court issues I wouldn't worry about it. Have any creditors asked for reviews at all? I'm sorry if I'm asking for repeated info!

Yeah that was my concern too, my reasoning is, one overdraft was a joint account with my mum which was the main household account so he's not solely liable and the other account was overdrawn because we borrowed from it for that household account. Which is actually true on both counts.

Mint asked for one at six months and accepted £2 more per month (£31 to £33), Capital One asked for one at six months and eventually accepted £6 more per month (£14 to £20).

So I feel I have to at least catch up the rest of the creditors to that increase, which means we need £263 per month!

Thanks orpheus, that's really helpful. I was afraid of that from Egg and they are our biggest creditor (nearly 44% is with them, loan and a credit card).

Just having a look, Gemmzie, back soon.

I wanted to help, Gemmzie, I really did, but I have no clue about DMPs or about this level of potential legal problem. I'm really sorry. Hope this at least bumps it again, so people who know more have got time to come in.

    Thanks Karmacat

Just wondered if anyone had some basic SOA advise too - am hoping we can cut down somewhere or we are stuffed.

Oh !!!!, we are absolutely screwed.

I totally forgot to factor in that father won't be working over Christmas and then there's the tax bill which means come January we will be another £1600 in debt or more, which we have no way of paying off so it'll go back on the 24.9% overdraft and keep going up.
I can't see a way out of this. We are snookered. I wonder if there's anyway we could get an IVA because there's no way out of this mess.

Gemmzie~sorry but Im just a wee bit confused(doesent take a lot!)
Is there no amount factored into your M&D's SOA for your dad's tax?
Why cant the £19 to B Gas be cancelled?
Can the Sky package not be reduced slightly?
Try not to worry to much & take care.

  • Gem how many people are being fed for £400 a month? Also the gas, electric and sky bills look high. Can you not get free broadband through sky? Reduce the package or cancel temporarily?

I feed 5 of us for £200 a month. If you could knock your food bill down to £200ish and cancel sky you would be a long way to making up your shortfall.

Is there no amount factored into your M&D's SOA for your dad's tax? Yes, it's factored in and covered, but they want £700 extra this year for an upfront payment. I think it's disgusting but you can't argue with the tax man!
Why cant the £19 to B Gas be cancelled? Something to do with it invalidating house insurance if we had a gas problem
Can the Sky package not be reduced slightly? Dad won't drop the sport, but that would only save £8 a month which isn't a massive amount - won't drop any mixes, it was hard enough taking off movies!

    Thanks beanielou :)
Gem how many people are being fed for £400 a month? Four adults, including lunches. We've tried really hard to knock it down but it's just not happening, I really don't get how people do it!
Also the gas, electric and sky bills look high. Gas and leccy is high, still trying to figure that one out - we are in credit but they said because it's our first Winter with them we need to keep it in credit because they've estimated our usage.
Can you not get free broadband through sky? We have the £5 one, I will be reimbursed for this eventually when college sort themselves out. Reduce the package or cancel temporarily? See above  It's the biggest argument we have in the house.

Yes it would but I can't see it happening unfortunately :(
