  • It's hard not to help your parents, especially as you live with them too. You'll get there and you have proved you are not shy of the challenge - you should be very proud of yourself!

There has to be a life after debt...i've spent the last few years battling away at it getting nowhere and it is only now since I have been on the DMP with payplan that I can see a possible end. If only I took the plunge sooner! Still we're all dealing with it now and there is a light at the end of the tunnel :-)

It's the same with ours, a massive chunk of this, almost 80% of the DMP debts were run up in the last 18 months from what I've found by digging. Prior to Sep 05 it was all unsecured, if only we'd known of DMPs then!

The water increase letter came in yesterday £4.17 more a month on average. We pay nearly £50 a month for water
Still waiting on CT bill but local paper says the rise is about 2% so that's not too bad either - phew.

Also, as we keep ending up short, mum's increased her input £50 which means our savings have had to come to a standstill for the next few months (saving for a new boiler as ours is dying and uneconomical)

Just had a message from mortgage people that the rate has been dropped from February's decrease :T :T
Not so good for the savers but good for the mortgage, so that another £17 approx we can stick off the other debts, woop!

It certainly will Sarah! It should mean that we can pay off the non-DMP debts this year which is my main aim at the moment.

And dad's work is finally starting to pick up, definitely enough for us to hit the average figure we need, quite possibly above that :j So we'll have enough (finally) to put aside for his holidays / slow times.

Round up time for March, although there might be another £60-£100 to add for the Make £10 challenge to come tomorrow but I'll stick it on April to get things going...

    March Grocery Challenge - £380 / £380
    Make £10 a day in March - £441.43 / £310
2008 Olympic Challenge: Silver - £164.79 made this month
Pay off £10k by Xmas 08 - £493.77 paid this month
    Savings for £10k - £1121.80

Really makes me think that there's an end point to this. Thank gawd :rotfl:

The DMP is quiet, we still haven't heard from Cap 1 or Egg. Hell-ifax are sticking their lovely charges on - £40 this month, will be even more next month as we'll be back over the credit limit

Our DFD is now July 2019! :T :T That's better than the 2040 we started with (my parents would have been 80!)

    Right it's home insurance time..
Renewal is nearly £400  But I've got a quote from Esure for £226 (if we pay up front, which can be done). That'd save £8 a month from the current figures, gonna get dad to check it when he gets home to make sure I've not missed anything glaringly obvious.

And I've switched our gas/leccy to a fixed tariff - it's £15 more at the moment but I think we'll make good savings between now and 2011. Besides, we can't afford any further increases until 2010 on our budget!

DMP-wise, Halifax are now charging £30 a month interest and £24 in charges so we are going backwards, roll on the DCA  Everyone else is happy and quiet.
