Also, if you allow a small Jack Russell at one table are you going to have to allow a large dog at another table? Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I’ve taken my bull terrier into dog friendly cafes and pubs for meals - he’s trained to stay put on a settle mat and not harass people,
Our local spoons regularly has people with dogs in the outside bit. Maybe it depends on the area - that one is a bit low rent,0 -

We were out having some celebratory drinks, it was late-ish, around 8pm and we were wanting a bite to eat but nothing too expensive, so popped along to our local wetherspoons. We took a seat on one of the many outdoor tables at the front of the building, my OH went in to get some drinks and menus. After about 10 minutes and whilst deciding what to eat, we got approached by a staff member who very abruptly told us dogs were not allowed on the premises and that we had to drink up and leave. "But we're outside" we said. "It doesn't matter its policy".
Upon doing some research this is apparently a Wetherspoons policy and has been for a while, although clearly not enforced as I have always seen people with dogs outside our local one. In fact, we've sat there with him and had breakfast on several occasions without anyone batting an eyelid.
Just seems such a bizarre policy to me. Its outside, its a market square so dogs will walk in that area anyway when the place is shut. They give a big thumbs up to loud, mouthy, chavs and smelly alcoholics who haven't washed in months, but a fat no to a small well behaved jack russell.0 -

I make no comment regards the appeal or otherwise of W establishments.3 -
As someone who can't stand dogs (and there are other people like me!) I'm delighted that there are pubs etc that don't allow them, no matter how allegedly "well-behaved" they are. (That goes for young children too... )4

Its outside, I'm not sure why there would be dog hairs to pick up. There really shouldn't be any waste. Any responsible dog owner should clear up after their dog.
I'm not convinced that a rat comparison is realistic.3 -
