Did I say there was a problem? I said well done, that’s a congratulations not a problem 🤷🏼♀️Day_Of_The_Doris said:
Well, considering that you only asked for one example that didn't have in app purchases:dhow1809 said:Well done, of the millions of apps out there, you have found not even a handful. I’m impressed!and Aylesbury_Duck gave you four, I don't see your problem.dhow1809 said:Find an app that is for children that doesn’t have in app purchases. They all do. What part of “the iPad is set up as a child’s account” don’t you understand?0 -

It was obvious from the opening post that the OP was never going to accept any responsibility for what has happened and when that occurs, it is often the case that abuse to other posters that disagree with them follows not too far behind.JJ_Egan said:Typical poster don't get the answer they want and then start abusing posters .-1 -
I also assume from your OP that you have checked the purchase history and requested refunds that way anyway. But this might be helpful to others.

Regarding my actual request for advice, I’ve not disagreed with anyone. I asked if what I’ve been told is the case and is there anything further I can do.dhow1809 said:

I haven’t said I’m not responsible, I haven’t blamed apple, my bank or the developers, I have stated the facts and then asked for other people’s experiences so that I know whether it’s worth trying to push it or I should drop it.I have been subject to parenting advice, which I didn’t ask for and tbh, no one needs to be told over and over what they’re doing wrong, I’m the one a thousand pound down, I obviously see, more than anyone’s opinion will make me see, that I have made a bad call. Totally understood and hands up to it. But I didn’t come here to ask “what do you all think of my decision to allow my child to play on an app that allows in app purchases” I just wanted help with whether I should pursue the refund path or not. Doesn’t seem unreasonable, given what this forum is for 🤷🏼♀️0 -

Only advice I can give on refunds is this.
I've only ever bought an in-app purchase in error once, I requested a refund via the purchase history and got it. But it was less than a fiver I think and the first time I had requested a refund.

I go back to my original advice: if you get no joy from the developer or Apple, get yourself in the paper with your best sad face and finger pointing at the ipad. It might embarrass them into a goodwill refund, but it will also be embarrassing, so be prepared for that.0

I have just ordered popcorn on the Amazon, using my 2FA and code to my phone. As my M supermarket delivers, It will be here shortly!4

I’m actually with the OP on this one. This thread has taken a bit of an unnecessary turn. Yes it’s an open forum, yes threads do regularly head off in other directions but some of the phrasing in the suggestions has been unfortunate and would probably have put my back up as well.
Sometimes it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -
I agree elsien - it seems to have become unnecessarily personal - in several directions.
My take away concern from this is that apps, that children can play, are allowed to have such high priced in-app purchases at all. I know that developers need to recoup their costs and hopefully make some money - but I'm struggling to grasp how a game can justify (potentially multiple and/or repeatable) charges to anyone of £185! It's a game for heaven's sake.
The earlier advice to buy apps up front, rather than risk the possibility of in-app purchases, seems to be a very good idea. Even if the kid doesn't like the game and ends up not playing it much - at worst you're down a fiver or so.2 -
To be fair, they don't have to justify it as they are simply a business selling a product to adults (well, it's adults who have to provide the payment method). If people want to spend their money or allow others to spend it for them on games then that's their choice.BooJewels said:but I'm struggling to grasp how a game can justify (potentially multiple and/or repeatable) charges to anyone of £185!
