No chance of them doing anything other than refund you. It is simply not cost effective.eskbanker said:
The bank won't devote any effort to investigating specifically who used the card or how/when/where - their sole angle is whether or not they're responsible for refunding, i.e. whether you can be held liable. Provided you haven't been negligent with the card and reported its loss promptly to them, then they should refund in accordance with the FCA-imposed timescale as linked above, so if they haven't done this yet then you can chase them.kimp22 said:The 29.79 made me go overdrawn by 19 pounds and I managed to get some money on to the bank to cover my direct debits coming out and to make sure its not overdrawn now. But I haven't heard any thing back from the bank how long will it take. Can the bank find out what was got from these shops. They did ask if I shopped at these shop and I use asda alot but the corner shop never been in there.
You would need a very good reason not to refund contactless payments when a card is reported as lost, even if it is a shop used by a customer. As most cards are lost in the area people live.
As as well any charges incurred will be refunded.

Which is a shame, especially when you consider that the new pay machines in my local Asda now have a camera in them. Got a bit of a shock when I saw my ugly mug in the corner of the screen.born_again said:

I've been told it is merely a shock tactic - they think you won't slip any freebies in your bag if you know you are been filmed - even though the camera is at a fixed angle and can't see your bag. (The camera above you can though so don't try it LOL).Shakin_Steve said:

As it theft it's a police matter. But the issue is for that amount, police will not bother.Shakin_Steve said:

Given the number of cases, banks are unable to report them.
OP could if they knew the time ask to see the CCTV and see if the person is known to them.Life in the slow lane0 -
Anyone can ask anything but I'd be astonished if a major company would knowingly breach data protection legislation (and corresponding corporate policies) by showing CCTV footage to someone with no legal right to view it - as ever in such cases, it's important to remember that it's the bank that's the victim of any crime here, not the customer....born_again said:OP could if they knew the time ask to see the CCTV and see if the person is known to them.2
