@MrsDippy your great house crisp shortage really made me chuckle.
Maybe I shouldn't tell you this but the only way I've found to conquer that vice is to go cold turkey. :o
Any other method just made me more creative about getting round my own restrictions! :*  >:)

Before I shove off to bed just checking in to say after my last top-up shop of this month I'm declaring at £182.87/£190
which isn't bad but could be better like most things.
See you all in November, goldfinches.
I can't thank this post,. Go cold turkey on crisps😱

    But congratulations on under budget

@MrsDippy you made me laugh - thank you. I love the tinge of obsession in that description, coupled with a hint of desperation it was like me when I realised I was on a Snickers bender (one every day at work!!!)

This week was a strange one, I shopped as usual on Thursday but was late setting out and our local town was absolutely jammed packed.  I usually do baker, butcher, green grocer, Aldi and Sainsbury. Tesco has been added on as it is the only local fish counter open.  However I had a zoom interview on Wednesday and was told Thursday morning I got the job.  Great. However I decided to get more shopping than usual so I am prepared, got the eight pack of chicken from Lidl, pork steaks and lamb steaks - the lamb is my treat for new job. The rest is to be portioned and frozen.  I also got extra coffee (I'll be in the office and training at first)  and some tins of Fanta lemon - cheaper than champagne and much nicer.  Also popped into Morrisons post swim and got rtc mushrooms and bread. Loads of lovely mushroom soup.

Running total was £87.20  + 38.17  so £125.37.  37 pence above target. If I hadn't gone to Morrisons I'd be 1 pence under target but wouldn't have a lovely big pan of mushroom soup.

    Sorry for the essay
Total for the month is £125.37
  • Hi

Hi all, declaring at £373.89/£200. Not my best month! Roll on November. See you all on the new thread, mumtoomany.
    Frugal Living Challenge 2025.

  • Hello, last day of October and I spent £170.91, just £20.91 over my budget. I am pleased with this because traditionally I usually end up paying closer to £400. Trying to stick to £150 for 3 adults, for 3 meals per day and includes cleaning products is a challenge but one I am doing my best to meet.
    Starting Total in September 2019 = £38287.77
    Current Total = £25534.10
33% of debt paid off so far

    Declaring at £138.77/£140

    Evening All.

I’m days behind so apologies if I’ve missed anything.  I hope all is well with you.  I’m declaring for October at £138.77/£140.  I did a couple of shops this week, £3 spent in W8rose on Monday (on their Wool Wash), and £13.84 in L!dl on Tuesday.

We walked down to L!dl after work, arriving just as they started marking up their YS items.  Bought 500g 10% fat Minced Beef for £1.60, and two 400g packs of diced beef for £3.56.  When I got home, I split the mince into two and froze it, together with one pack of the diced beef.  We had the other pack in a stew for dinner on Thursday and I’m not massively impressed.  It’s OK but the cubes of beef are quite small.  Even with my OSer skills, I don’t think I could feed more than 3 people per package.

    See you all in November.

2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 39.5 spent.

    4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
    22 - yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - leather wallet

Declaring for October pence over £90, have an annual food budget, not included are pet exes, food vet etc, car exes, tax ins fuel repairs AA, alcohol, which appears through lockdown to have cost more than food, and anything spent Amazon and E,bay, household goods etc, although Amazon seems to include more and more foods, but is by far my biggest spend, so back to the drawing board, I don`t think I need to cut grocery exes, it`s Amazon will mull it over for New Year.
Do I need it or just want it.
