I am sure this is a relief. Well done - and get some support from your doctor.0

I read up to page 5 and then jumped to the end. Martin has created an information booklet on what can be done when mental health causes problems with money handling and debt https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/mental-health-guide/
Please read as a matter of urgency. Some debts can be dealt with slightly differently. Your psychiatrist can write a letter explaining how your mental health affects your money handling/debts. I had a psychiatric social worker write a letter for me to a borough's council tax department after they wanted £400 back after I moved away. They wouldn't listen to me but after the letter it was written off. Not saying this would happen with all the debts but anything helps. You could ask your psychiatrist to refer you to the community mental health team and ask for a referral to a social worker who deals with clients with mental health challenges.

My advice would be to get yourself an advocate who can speak on your behalf if you feel that you are going to struggle on the telephone interview. It is very clear that mental health issues might have affected your judgement and spending, speak to your GP and tell them everything, it might be that they can provide a letter on your behalf to back up your illness. Although it won't avoid the repayment of the monies, it will alleviate any stronger courses of action.
p.s. The odds of you going to prison are extremely unlikely!0 -

It may take a while. Did you also speak to your partner?

Hi, yes I did and he’s been amazing. I’m so bloody lucky, but I can see the worry eating away at him at how we will afford this. I’m worried about his mental health.
I had a letter today saying
“Provisional tax credits statement for 06/04/2019 to 06/04/2019z
it says for that period child tax - £24.29
then it says
thank you for telling us about your recent change of circumstances. This change means that tax credits were not due after 06/04/2019 and we have to review the amount of tax credits paid to you for the period 06/04/2019 to 06/04/2019.
please complete and sign and return the tax credits declaration form we sent you by 32/07/2020.Amount to be paid
£24.29
payments already made £8001.48
Amount of overpayment from earlier years 888.66
Amount due from you
£8865.85
Upto April 2019
from this award period £8865.85
of this £888.66 already been collected
£3330.54 already been collected back from later awards
£8865.85 still to be confirmed as overpaid.
it doesn’t make sense to me. What are the dates about and why are they both the same? I’m guessing I will receive more letters about the other dates?0 -

There should be another notice covering 6/4/20 to the date they stopped the tax credits. It may take a few weeks for them to process it all and get the final award notices done.1 -
