We don’t watch iplayer much and can stop watching it if it saves £159 a year , and don’t watch live tv ie from the planner and can’t record . We mostly watch Netflix and prime and other onDemand stuff like sky cinema. Do we need a tv license ? I think if you had sky for 20+ years and not used free view for most of that we shouldn’t have needed on them too for all them years ! Thanks
As for Sky Glass, if it operates solely by streaming then that makes it much the same as Now (TV). And you only need a Licence for that if you stream the scheduled broadcast channels.1 -

Ok after a few software updates over the last 4-6 weeks the glass Is quite a good package to replace our 7 year old main tv for only £21 a month for a 65 inch qled tv with atoms sound bar and only one item on the wall with included wall bracket. so we’re quite happy with the glass now picture seems to look good with a few tweaks and sounds ok as a package it’s a decent system and for people that want to update there main tv or can’t have a dish its a decent option.

Not sure what would replace 'live' for utmost clarity.
'Broadcast' might do but I think that has connotations of 'over the air' whereas watching live TV via internet also needs a licence.
Probably 'scheduled' as previously posted is a good word, but it's not perfect.
Maybe it could be switched around - you don't need a licence if you only watch on-demand programmes.0 -

I have Sky Glass, nearly everything I watch is from my Playlist and/or Streaming. I do use iPlayer but ONLY to catch-up NEVER live on the player. However I do watch some "live" tv (mainly news).
My main question is since this Sky Glass TV is not connected to any external Coaxial Aerial or Satellite dish and only connected to broadband therefore all programs whether "live" or "playlist" are downloaded or streamed through my fibre broadband and this TV does NOT record anything only stream or catch up. Is there still a requirement for my TV license.
Also as a point of interest. What actually is the defenition of "Live" TV? As stated all programs/data etc are sent through broadband and I also believe that this has a slight lag time/delay and therefore not actually live (in my opinion), so again does this then warrant paying for the license?0 -

Minor transmission delays are irrelevant and the legislation specifically includes them within the Licence requirement.
MSE has a good article here that covers the detail: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/broadband-and-tv/tv-licence/0
