BB  service bad then complain to BT frequently .
Contract  as to all the T&C i have seen over the last two years TV/ Sport is a package and not part of BB terms .
Neither do Ofcom give any reason to leave penalty free .
But do let us know how you get on .

I called BT yesterday to cancel the sport part of my package having received the same email (£4 price rise, currently paying £10 per month), was given a sob story about why it was going up ( to enable BT to keep bidding for the best sport on offer.....?), told him I wasn’t interested as I didn’t watch that much anyway, he then told me I had to pay £78 cancellation fee, told him I’d received the email saying no charges, he insisted that I had to pay it as that only applied if cancelled within 30 days of taking out the sport, told him to leave it as I’d have to do some research, thanks to the other contributors to this site , I went back into battle this morning, however this time I spoke with someone who knew what they were doing and put the cancellation through without any qualms or charges, so  thanks forumites, hope this helps anyone else who gets the first person I spoke with ( can’t remember his name but he was at the Exeter call centre).

  • I have free BT Sport as part of my Max HD TV package, so I've not received any price increase notification.

We get bt sport free as well , same package as you but have received a letter saying it’s going up £4.00. Have just sent a complaint in asking why are we paying for something we get free.

It wasn't 'free'. It was discounted to zero for a limited period, which has now expired.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I've not really had much time to look at BT broadband, Landline and BT Sport packages on behalf of my elderly partially sighted father but delved into the details today.
He has some fixed price contract for BT Halo (where they moved him from some old broadband network onto fibre connectivity ) but fixed the rental at the old  broadband price for 24 months.
Then I looked at the landline package and noticed he was on £12 per month for unlimited landline UK calls per month but when I looked at his usage he only averages 12 hours usage per year.  PAYG is 20p per minute so that worked out the same  as the 'Unlimited Calls' product at  £144 per year. Then I noticed they had an alternative package of £7 per month for 700 mins per month so have raised an order to change it . That would be £84 pa compared to 'PAYG /Unlimited call rental'  at £144 pa  so will hopefully save £60 per year for my father.
Then I looked at BT Sport and noticed the rental had increased in the last 2 months from £6 pm to £12.50 pm and was wondering why. Looked deeper and found that they were charging £6.50 for BT HD channels (obviously of little use to my almost blind father).  It looks like they had included some 'BT Sport Discount'  at £6.50 pm  the previous year which had ended a few months ago and I'm unsure whether they forewarned my father about this . So I've raised a complaint and requested they remove the BT Sport HD channel element  (£6.50 pm) and credit my father the £13 they've already charged him, otherwise we will consider moving both broadband and landline to another supplier.

I also have Max HD with free BT Sport. I've just looked at my latest bill and it specifically says "TV with free BT Sport" (my emphasis) ... nothing about any discount for Sport. I'm paying £12 per month for Max HD (with free BT Sport).
  • PS - no letter here either. (I can't edit posts yet).

I have MAX TV and BT Sport HD . the package at £12 pm enabled me to get the cheapest price for BT Sport HD at that time .
Package Max £24 pm discount £13 pm for 18 months .

I also got the £4 increase letter from 1st November.
I have is BT broadband and the Sports only via the big screen app (£5+ £5 4K).
The video quality is really good (via apple TV 4K), curious to see if anybody has managed to negotiate something good.
