My qualification is as a holder of a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx, and I have a certificate to prove it.jimmy1771 said:
Appreciate the recommendation, but just find it odd that someone would advertise themselves as being at a level of qualification that they're not? Maybe you could help shed some light on this?Coupon-mad said:Yes, Small Claims Advisor is great (neither brown trout nor I has any connection to it). But we know who runs it.
I was applying to become a Fellow (the next level up), but they expected me to spend a period of time under the supervision of a solicitor. I was not prepared to do this, and hence resigned my membership.
I have represented clients in hundreds of small claims cases, some of them involving private parking (see signature) with an 80% success rate.
Whether I would be prepared to take on your case, depends on the quality of your Defence and WS. Even I can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.4 -

I think I would rather go elsewhere - you state in your signature that you are a "Graduate member of CILEx, studying towards a Fellowship (equivalent to solicitor) in Civil Litigation." which is entirely misleading, as you aren't a member and aren't studying towards fellowship either. As far as I know, it's an offence to hold out that you're a member of a professional body, like CILEx, when you aren't.

Unless Mr. Pole has changed his signature since your post, then it does not say what you said. His current signature for comparison:jimmy1771 said:I think I would rather go elsewhere - you state in your signature that you are a "Graduate member of CILEx, studying towards a Fellowship (equivalent to solicitor) in Civil Litigation." which is entirely misleading, as you aren't a member and aren't studying towards fellowship either. I read your post no more than 2 minutes after you posted ... Mr. Pole must have been quick off the mark.

You could not have got better as a lay rep than bargepole and have really shot yourself in the foot, OP.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
