Don't know why I got the urge to share that....

You can conduct all sorts of chatty threads on the "Money Savers Arms" board.
There are so many forums where long term users form a kind of clique and new users are made to feel like outsiders because they don't know the in-jokes or shibboleths, or where over zealous moderators close down and move threads which don't fit perfectly into the category. One of the reasons I stuck around with MoneySavingExpert and DFW was because it was so laid back and so unique.
There are loads of switched on knowledgeable users here who help people with serious problems. Important threads are constantly bumped to the tops of the lists. Less serious threads appear, stick around, and then eventually drop off the list. It works. Don't mess with it.
This is more of a community forum than a straightforward question and answer forum but I'm seeing more and more posts like yours recently. X.X.X is a new poster. Do you think you've given the forum a welcoming feel for her, or a hostile one?0 -

There was nothing which could have remotely been called hostile in my post, merely information. When XXX comes back to this thread and finds it missing, he or she will wonder where it went. It will more than likely have been moved to the Arms.
Please don't try and paint me as a villain, I answered the thread in good faith. When a poster is new, it's a good idea for someone to point out the rules, before a problem occurs.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

There are worse things the OP could have posted about. At least their post was related to money.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

I was just trying to guide a new OP to the right place to post.
Apart from anything else, I would have thought there would have been far more replies for him or her away from this board which is generally used by people who are in debt and wanting to get out of it - thus the title Debt-free wannabeI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I'm not painting you as a villain, or as hostile. Sorry if it came across like that. But you know what I mean about the community spirit, surely? There are lots of diaries on the forum that aren't strictly to do with spending. Lots of drinking threads on a weekend. Lots of non debt related threads. Lots of crap (and I know I'm guilty of posting most of it).
I'm just sure it's one of the why lots of people visit and stick around you know? I found the forum after searching for some advice on saving accounts, having bounced around loads of really dry, humourless finance websites. Found this one and loved it. I've taken in loads become a lot more financially savvy. Totally changed the way I think about money / spending / saving. Even aside from the financial advice given, just the feelings of support that members give each other makes it a great place to visit.
I'm sorry if I over-reacted to your post. hands up, I apologise. But I think you could have been a little more friendly and less blunt to a newbie.

Sorry. Maybe I'm guilty of typical forum behaviour. Forums seem to bring out the worst in people sometime - you either agree or fight. There's no middle ground. "Sorry" to Consultant31 for jumping down his throat. I felt his post was a bit blunt. I shall stop being so belligerent.

He's a she actually
and apology accepted:)
I do know what you mean about the community spirit and that's what has kept me hanging on with MSE - it's a brilliant site, with something for everyone.
However, I still think there's a board for everyone, DFW for the DFW-ers and boards like "I wanna" and the Arms for the rest of us who may just want a friendly discussion.
I'm sorry if I came across as blunt, I really didn't mean to. I genuinely do think the OP will get more replies from like-minded people on a different board.
I'm out of here now - gotta go to workI let my mind wander and it never came back!0
