Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I opened two accounts as a trustee for my 2 kids, so your info from the branch was incorrect.

My beef is the useless system Halifax operate regarding money laundering. Despite taking in birth certs for both (I have other a/cs in my name so no ID for me neded), the on line system still says 'Details Required'. Not the first time this has happened recently. Mjor grump in progress.

This is the usual Halifax experience Deemy. They will just get used to the account in about a years time and it will be pulled. There is usually a fun period around the first anniversaries too!

The online banking is great though!
  • This prodct is very new and I was the first person to open an account at the branch - It is possible that the IFA is getting confused between the adult regular saver (1 account per person ) the the child regular saver ! . I opened 8 accounts in total and set up SO.

Important : If you open the account in June - you must place money in that account that month - this was not brought to my attention by the branch and I nearly went on the premise that the SO would kick in the following month , however this would have deemed the 10% null and void and defaulted to the save4it AER of 5.05%

The first payment can be from a high interest account (save4it) but all subsequent payments are by DD / SO from a non high interest account

Not if you opened it with a credit.

If not go and pay into the account now (not 100% they allow this - maybe only on opening. If not then amend your SO online so a payment goes out this month - do it quick!)

Just spoke to the helpline and she said that although my SO is set up for 1 July - if the rate changes then they will know 4-5 days before the new month.
She re-iterated that the 10% is from when the account is opened - and the account is opened on the first payment.
Hopefully, they wont change the rate before 1 July - if they do then a bad publicity for Halifax for this much "trumpeted" account.

Shrimpers - I think WizeOwl is right here. The account is opened when you open it (!) AFAIK and so you should pay-in in June. I could be wrong, but then so could the helpline staff, and if they are wrong you will be on the websaver rate!

    Anyone know for sure?

Its the adult regular saver all over again! I have a PhD and I couldnt work it out! The safest option I can work out is to make a deposit on opening

Opened my account this morning. Was told to pay in a credit today to cover June's payment and have set up a standing order to start from July.
