Anybody applied online ?

How long did it take ?
• I did apply online for one account, it is straight forward (2 mins max) - however when the application paperwork arrived it still requires me to go to a branch to provide proof of identity - so a bit of a false economy

Paperwork took 3 days

could you go to the branch anytime ? I.e. just pop in ?

Or did you have to make a booking ?

I had to make an appointment - my branch was short-staffed!

They managed to see me straight away - i dont think they were particularly busy. One thing though, if you do go on the off chance they will see you straight away, dont forget to take the childs birth certificate in with you. Either that or their passport or their medical card (I think).

You will need proof of your identity too - I gave them my debit card but make sure by checking on the website before you go.

A question i have, i opted to have my standing order go out on the 1st of the month but i now realize i may of left it a bit late. I have a form to send off to my bank setting up the standing order but thats going to take a few days to get there so i am wondering. Since i have all the details on the form, has anyone tried setting up their standing order themselves online? If i did, it would be set up in minutes rather than days.

If you opt for 1st of the month you will 'miss out' on paying in a contribution for the month of June. I set up the standing orders on-line myself, ensuring that June 2005 was included - got first contribution going asap. It's a small point- but would let you take full advantage of the offer. On-line stuff processed very quickly.

Went to the branch to day to open the accounts

WELL !

According to the person you can only OPEN 1 per parent ! regardless of the number of children you have !

I have 2 kids so thought we would be able to open 4 accounts, BUT NO ! We could only open 2 accounts i.e. 1 me as a trustee and one with the wife as a trustee for the other child

I tried to insist thats its one per child but they would not listen so is Martin right or is it only one per child per trustee !!!!!!

Or as always are halifax staff to thick to know about the products they are selling !

You are quite right Deemy, I have the details here and it clearly says 'Only one account per trustee per child'.

From http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/childregularsaver.shtml
Having one account per adult, per child (under 16), so for example, each parent, grandparent, friend etc can hold an account for the same child.

From http://www.halifax.co.uk/savings/child_regularsaver_FAQ.shtml
How many accounts can be opened and by who?
Accounts can be held by one or two joint trustees in trust for a child. Only one account can be held per trustee(s) per child.
For example: -
Josh is 8 years old, his parents separately apply to open a Children's Regular Saver for him, as does his Grandma and one of his godparents. Josh therefore has 4 accounts opened in trust for him.

There is nothing there that deals with having more than one child.
Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
