Not had my official November statement yet but have downloaded all data from Octopus website so can predict it will work out to be 8.4ppu.   Agile replaced what was then the lowest cost E7 tariff for my area at 15.38ppu day & 8.2ppu night.

Yesterday was the first day that my daily average exceeded 14ppu (no doubt today will be second !)

Would the current agile prices improve the case for getting domestic battery storage or are the rates higher throughout the 24 hour period?
    I think....

Current rates are pretty high on Agile although you could potentially average something like 8p a unit by charging batteries at the cheapest times and avoiding import at the peak times.
Octopus Go is a better bet at 5p during the night. We averaged 5.17p last month with batteries and also charging an EV.

My daily ave PPU on Agile were 13.9 on Tues & 14.1 yesterday.

"Terrible" by normal Agile standards (8.7ppu for Nov)  but still better than many other companies would have charged. In particular it's pretty similar to what I'd have paid on Go since there was minimal usage in their offpeak window. And of course neither the other companies or Go will be a lot cheaper next week (assuming wind starts blowing) or ever give me a 'plunge' period.

Would you not charge your Leaf overnight if you were on Go though, assuming you have a home charger ?
That could make a fair difference to your bill.

Very little need to charge Leaf at all this year !  The charging I have done has mostly been below 5ppu,  occasionally negative and usually plug in for a free charge at Tescos.  Advantage of a large battery is that I can probably go up to a week without charging but have bags of room to charge a lot when price is low.

Yeah I guess you could still do it fairly cheaply if you're only charging once a week.
I was charging to 100% once a week too and that lasted the week fine but recently started charging to only 80%. I've seen a few reports that it can prolong battery life so just trying it at 80% for a few thousand miles to see if it makes much difference.
Mine's done 8800 miles and the state of health is at 98% so we'll see how it goes.

  • In guessing that the higher Agile prices (based on wholesale prices) will eventually push up the "GO" off peak 5p rate?

Haven't seen any mention of it.
It's been 5p for a few years now and I don't see it going up any time soon.
Possibly once the uptake in EV's increases some time down the line ??

This might explain why Agile prices are so high, with wind meeting just 1.44% of demand at 5.30pm on 6th December.
