How many homes have you had.

Why do so many people have a problem with the word 'home'? Doesn't matter if it's rented, owned, a tent in a field or whatever - it's still your HOME!I can't imagine a life without cheese. (Nigel Slater)2

I don't understand how useful it is, knowing how many houses some of us have owned. Sometimes people who move house regularly have an practical reason for doing so and sometimes it's a sign of unhappiness within, or a series of bad choices. My parents owned 9 houses, but it was neither a sign of wealth nor particular unhappiness, just impetuousness, I think.Perhaps the OP would like to tell us what they hope to gain from the answers, or are they the poster formerly known as Jack Cork? Doesn't look like it from other posts.1

I was sorting through old paperwork and found some that related to the time I spent living in a mobile home. it occurred to me I had actually ever owned 2 homes in my life, and just wondered about other people.
I don't know how many homes Jack Cork has owned as I never actually heard of him.1 -

Like others, I tend to think of the number of places where I've resided, rather than owned properties. It's in the high teens, but I still don't think of that as unusual or in any way meaningful.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was born and brought up to age 18 in a council house----and , since my post, I've become a bit curious as to how many folk were were brought up in council houses. Anyone in that category on this forum please ? And how many, like my parents, took advantage of the "right to buy" scheme? And does anyone live in what was a former council house?
And how has the right to buy scheme affected the appearance and desirability of the area concerned ? I'm just curious----thanks
Was it the only thing "THAT woman" got right or was selling council houses another of her massive big mistakes ?

I was brought up on a council estate which, at the time, was on the outskirts of Liverpool (near A580 UK's 1st purpose built highway, now known for gun & drug crimes). Lived there until I went to uni in 1968. Parents inherited princely sum of £2k when grandad died, which enabled them to buy dormer bungalow near Ormskirk.coachman12 said:As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was born and brought up to age 18 in a council house----and , since my post, I've become a bit curious as to how many folk were were brought up in council houses. My son bought a 2 bed ex council flat on outskirts of Welwyn Garden City in 2006. A great 1st time buy in a decent neighbourhood which still has many council tenants.
