    I can't honestly see that an employer would pay an employee on the same day they leave employment.

    What I would have expected is for the OP to have been paid full pay at the end of July and to have only received a small payment at the end of August for the few days at the start. A small payment for a few days work would in many cases leave some entitlement to UC. Of course if the final payment included holiday pay etc it would be bigger.
    Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    This is what I inferred - payment for the end of July after July payday, up until 3rd August. Otherwise, yikes, if it was pay for the whole of July as well then that's entirely down to the employer, not UC.
