This offer has a few exclusions - one is that if you have the XL top up discount (i.e. xl tv upgrade free for 12 months) saving you £9 a month (£108 over a year) you don't qualify. That offer does save you more than the v plus offer. Please don't give the agent hell on the phone when you call as at customer services they are not authorised to give you both. You could try retentions but they may accept your request to disconnect (its likely after getting the top up discount you are in a contract anyway but no harm trying).
I am on L TV, 2meg BB, and phone for £33. I emailed some time ago to match the new customer offer, and got no reply, other than the auto ack. If I call 150, and politely ask agent for XL top up discout as you describe, will I get it today. or is that an offer that has now closed?

Its a new customer offer only so cust care won't be able to do it but if you phone retentions 150 option 4 they may be able to help you - can't guarentee bnut you might get it

Got a pretty red box with an invite from Trevor Elliott, MD, Customer Service to apply for a half price V+ box.

I rang the number, 0800 952 8041, and was told that as I was already on so many reductions I would have to pay the full price of £150.

I asked to be put through to Customer Complaints and simply asked them for the deal; no hastle. Will be installed next Thursday and they will throw in a set of HD leads FOC for the inconvenience.

I guess the answer is not to take no for an answer!

Customer service at Virgin has definitely not improved.

    Poor form, I know, but this from www.nthellworld.co.uk;
Virgin Media has announced today that it is to reduce the installation costs of its V+ PVR by half price from £150 to £75 until December 31st 2007.

However, there are some reports on our Virgin Media forums that one or two customers managed to get the installation costs down to £25. VM’s website says there is a fee of £45 if booked online.

Virgin Media have stressed though that in order that they can guarantee an installation before 24th December, confirmed orders need to be booked before December 12th.

The monthly subscription cost for the V+ is £5 payable on Size M & L packages but free on XL.

Darn! Should have read that first!

Don't worry, I've just looked at all their forums and all I can find is one person saying it was on offer to new customers at £45 for one day...and then it changed to £75. Apparently they think it was a typo. I can't find any reference to anybody actually getting it at that price..unless I've not looked hard enough but I looked at everything that might be relevant.

Just want to get home now to see if I can get mine for £75!

I found out from a friend she got a call out of the blue from virgin and they offered her a V+ box for £25:mad: obviously she took them up on their offer the man on the phone told her it was very hush hush and not to spread the word she told me because I mentioned my half price box there just seems to be no continuity with this company she still does not know why they chose her she had never enquired about it . I have paid full whack for my package for 7 years phone, broadband and xl tv never missed payments surely they could afford to give this deal to all loyal customers. it is only this week I managed to get a £10.50 a month discount when I happened to be on the phone ordering the half price box so have also been over paying for years too

Think its just random who they choose. I've been on cable since they first launched in my area over 11 years ago with, phone, tv and internet (paying full price for each unless there was an offer which was open to all) but they didn't ring me with this offer. I just paid the £75 half price.

150 only works if you have a phone line from Virgin Media. On BT lines 0845 454 1111 is the equivalent to 150.

Just a quick update. I called again last night and said to the guy that answered 'I've had a flyer about the half price V+ box'. He replied 'yes if you're on the family pack, let me check, yes you can have that'. RESULT. I was ready to give reasons why I should have it and he just put it all through with no prob. We now have XL TV, free evening and weekend calls and bb (not sure which bb). We are also having the old box put upstairs (£5 a month) and the V+ box downstairs (£75) all for just less than £30 a month. All being installed on Wed.

Thank you Virgin (til the V+ box goes wrong!!) and thanks to all for your advice on here. :T :j :T :j
