After a battery change I needed a radio code for my Nissan Micra (2013 plate). The main dealer I phoned couldn't or wouldn't help (or rather they wanted me to drive there and pay £25), but Nissan themselves were very helpful. After a quick web chat I was sent an email telling me to send scans of my V5 (or other proof of ownership) and my driving licence (proof of identity) and a photo of the radio showing the serial number. I was sent a code within half an hour of replying, which I think is pretty good going.
The only snag was that in order to get the photo of the serial number, I had to enter a wrong code. This locks the radio for 60 minutes before you can try again. Except it's not 60 minutes of elapsed time, it's 60 minutes with the ignition on - turning the car off paused the countdown! So I had to leave the car sitting there, switched on.
Any other Nissan owners in the same situation might like to take note of all this!
