Easyjet cancellation - no rerouting!

While section 75 holds a credit card company equally as liable as a merchant in the event of breach of contract or misrepresentation, this would normally be expected to take the form of financial recompense rather than actively intervening to provide the service themselves, which they're obviously not set up to do.GandalfG said:The card company are equally liable to fulfill the contract so I have told them I want them to provide replacement flights as easyjet are refusing to. I would like a flight from Manchester to Tel Aviv. I don't mind a connection even though it is annoying, it is better than getting to Luton. We are a group of 10 people
I could be wrong but given your timescale of two weeks I'd have thought it far more likely that you can make a case for EasyJet to get you from Manchester to Tel Aviv (using other airlines if necessary, or trains) than hoping your credit card company would magically be able to rustle up suitable alternative flights, especially when they've said they'll take three weeks to get back to you, so I'd be amazed if s75 was a more productive avenue at this stage, even if it might be more useful after the event.2 -
You actually used the word "comfortable"? 😀😀1

Trains have been deemed suitable in the past. A train is about 3 hours to Luton via London. I'd deem this suitable as it's likely faster than a flight by the time you've got to MAN, waited around the airport for 2 hours and then flown down. You should be able to get Easy to pay for this.GandalfG said:I have just sent an email to the head of customer service, offering them the option of either booking me an alternative flight with another airline or providing me with suitable comfortable transportation to Luton airport from Manchester (and back) in order to take their flight. Will update what happens.
Due to an entry ban for most people entering Israel (and the fact you've had 2 weeks notice), no compensation will be payable.💙💛 💔1 -
There are also no flights between Manchester and Luton anyway, unless this has recently changed.0

Correct no flights to Luton. Train would be down to Euston then across to St Pancras is a 15 minute walk with luggage probably longer then train north to luton. I am not convinced that would be reasonable to expect of me. I would much prefer a flight with lufthansa or turkish (who are no more comfortable than easyjet) with a connection.
That is why I wrote comfortable. I wouldn't mind being taken to Luton in a comfortable minibus but not on National Express!
Do I have any right to expect more than a bus ticket? don't know. I will see what they say.0 -
Personally I think they will just refund you your money. Hope I am wrong but seems as you haven’t actually set off and don’t agree to the changes then all they need to do is refund? No? I took the rerouting as a possible option not a definite and I definitely don’t think Easyjet will pay for a limo. You may be lucky and get them to agree to National Express? As say am only playing devils advocate and if it is essential you get to Tel Aviv in 2 weeks then I would be making my own plans rather than waiting on them. You would definitely get a refund of fare but the rest? Hmmm not sure 🤔2

Quite sure the EU regs dont specify the mode of transport, or the thickness of the cushion on the seat

What would you do, if you had to get to Luton? That is possibly your answer of what is reasonable. If they are offering to pay for solutions then they could do train, coach or car hire. Given that by the time you get recompense your trip may be complete and it would be a question of reimbursement of your expenditure.GandalfG said:Correct no flights to Luton. I can't see Easyjet paying for another airline if it can avoid it, far more likely to fly you via Amsterdam or Rome on an orange plane than pay money elsewhere. And if they were going to pay another airline, I would guess BA would be an option via Heathrow.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Easier with luggage would be train to Milton Keynes and coach to Luton.GandalfG said:Correct no flights to Luton. Train would be down to Euston then across to St Pancras is a 15 minute walk with luggage probably longer then train north to luton.
Or, if you are able and willing to drive, a one way car hire.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. No, as quoted earlier, they are required by the EC 261/2004 regulations to offer rerouting under comparable transport conditions and thus far are in breach of their obligations by failing to do this, having only proposed a partial journey rather than end to end.Tedber said:Personally I think they will just refund you your money. OP mentioned that it's a group of ten passengers on the booking, which probably does affect the economics, in that a decent-quality minibus hire could be cheaper than ten train/bus fares....0
