Hi... I need to access HSBC under a PoA, and one of the reasons I never installed the banking app was the requirement to have access to the fob to actually do anything.Sandtree said:...I don't carry my HSBC business fob with me so until their app was improved I could do nothing other than see my balance without it.
Can you (anyone with HSBC) confirm that you can now undertake activities such as transfers and paying bills without any need of the fob? Happy to use it for a new payee (when required).Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

You definitely don't need their hideous key-fob thing any longer for fully operating an HSBC account. However, if you have 2 HSBC accounts for separate people, I don't think you could operate both from the app on the same device as you can only have one instance of the app, and that one instance can only be linked to one account. If there's only one HSBC account, you can go ahead right away with the app.cloud_dog said:

Monzo does not offer cheque paying in via a mobile phone; you can only post them.DCFC79 said:My experience, Halifax, Monzo amd Starling offer cheque paying in but there is a limit
Monzo & Starling (£500 is the limit for Starling) will let you post high value cheques.0 -
I have a OnePlus phone that has a feature called Parallel Apps that allow more than one instance of the same App.colsten said:

I like Barclays and Nationwide. With Barclays you can pay in cheques with your smartphone.
I used HSBC, FD, Monzo, and Starling in the past, and using Halifax now (not for current accounts though), but didn't like any.
There is a large banking study here, based on a survey of 19K people; data is from Aug 2020. From the list, I am surprised about Metrobank rating high, my mum has the account and the online interface and app look rubbish and basic, but that's subjective...

I'm surprise about First Direct being that high. The initial set up is an absolute nightmare, as is then getting re-set up after obtaining a new phonemagritte said:I like Barclays and Nationwide. With Barclays you can pay in cheques with your smartphone.

I wouldn't put much stock in that survey tbh. First Direct and HSBC's apps are more or less the same with different colours, yet one is apparently 4th and the other 13th.
FWIW, I don't feel particularly stunted by any of the 8 or 9 bank apps I regularly use. Getting new payees set up on Nationwide/RBS/Natwest is a pain though.1
