Child trust fund

  • @xylophone they both came at the same time and I’d taken them both to the bank, there was a list of banks that you could deposit them into and I’d chosen Halifax
  • I don’t see why you would get one for the first child two years later when they don’t meet the eligibility.
  • @MarkN88 so what you are saying is I’m making it up? My sons birthday is the 27/08/02 he received the higher rate and my other son is 13/05/04 he received a little less. They both came in the post at the same time. There was a list of banks that you could put it into, I’d chosen Halifax, I’ve been in Halifax over the years but nobody had even heard of CTF

Where did I say this? Maybe you need to re-read.

Dates & information don’t match and to be honest if the system can’t find your child I’m not sure there is anything you can do about it.
  • He is right - the dates not match up. Plus why would they have both came at the same time for 2 kids nearly two years apart? And why did one get the higher rate and not the other?
  • @Deleted_User thank you I will have a look, I didn’t know his DOB was just before the start date until I entered it into the site, I think he was awarded it because it was only a few days before and his younger brother received one. I will have a look at the link though thank you
  • Why would you be awarded one just because his birthday was a few days before? That’s kinda defeating the purpose of having it be for people being between those dates. If they awarded to your son then they would have had to award it to anyone else born on and after that date but before the 1st Sept! And then you would have people saying that isn’t fair and why do they not get it? Sorry doesn’t seem true.
  • This is the reason I was asking for help as he definitely got one but I can’t find it! Because it is no longer running there is no specific office/person to speak to and to find out why this has happened
  • @CocoM2020 ok 👍🏽 because I’m going to make it up? I wouldn’t waste my time, I just didn’t want him losing out on what is rightfully his! I have no real idea why he was awarded it and I can’t speak to anyone to ask the questions I need answering!? Hence the thread here in the hope that someone else may of had the same issue
  • No but it could be wishful thinking. The first accounts matured on the 1st Sept and I’m sure many parents are thinking their child should have gotten theirs but were born before the start date.  Doesn’t seem plausible that they set all this up and then were like ah let’s change it and give it out to someone born in 27/08/02 because we want to! Nobody else now just one person and we will do it nearly two years later!
