 Maybe, haven't got to purchasing any Games, though found City Skylines downloadable via MS account -which was from X Box One until whenever I e-bayed it.
Call of Duty could be a decent initial game -possibly via Amazon.
I hope 2021 brings some S series enhancements, if developers can push the limited ram etc

As we know, the Series S is Digi only (no CD Drive). My Son has the XBOX 1 and is thinking of asking for the new one for Xmas (availability dependant). If we went for the Series S, I guess he is unable to play all of his current games that are on CD? So we would have to re-purchase those just to play on the new system. Is that correct?

That's correct.
Some of the games could be on offer right now on the Xbox store or if not then throughout the year, saves you some money.

Downloaded City Skylines again -loads up fast-No enhancements of course.
Forza 7 is smart -70-80gb download -took a few hours across 2 separate days.
Gamespass makes S Series work.

Success only via Android using xcloud.
No luck via ios XBox app -controller connects to iphone, no control via xbox app.

Is x box controller play+charge required.
Yesterday batteries ran low 1st time since launch day.
Thankfully I used existing Battery charger -not sure if x box controller is supplied with re chargeable; batteries, though seemed to work.
Slightly disappointed controller batteries ran low again an hour or two later.
Is this because I connected Steel Series Arctic 3 headphones via 3.5mm Jack to controller.
Does Play and Charge offer any advantage over my existing Battery charger,
