Fence wrong way round

  • Yes, he is just a kid. A poor misguided kid.

Why does he do it? Attention seeking? Anger? Frustration? Or just excitement?  It sure sounds as tho' he isn't being fulfilled at home.

I personally wouldn't do anything to the fence, certainly not anti-climb or spikes - that's for deterring adult crims. I wouldn't even swap the panels around - what's the point?! He can climb them either way!

If you can bear it, make it clear to the PCSO that you are sympathetic and only wish the child to understand his actions are causing distress.

the fencing is feather boarding. So have thought about knocking them of and turning them around so on other side.
As Jeepers_Creepers mentioned - the children are able to climb out of the garden even though that's the smooth side so would turning the fence round help?

You say you have a dog, I know what I would use on the other side of the fence. Lets see how they like climbing the fence then 💩  😉

Depends on the dog. My neighbour's two would be fine. They behave as though they will kill you while you're still the other side of the gate, then they only lick you close to death when you enter!
But an unpredictable dog.....I'd rather go for the prickle strips. It's someone's child; somewhat neglected, but that's not the lad's fault.

Was the fence there before the houses were built, it may be the green space boundary fence.

The spikes put on fences to deter cats aren't sharp.  They simply make it impossible for most cats to climb onto it.

Criminal damages IS a police matter, no matter what age the perpretraters are.  That should be your first port of call.  Let them make the decision on whether to call child protection.

I believe you're missing the gist of my post. It wasn't the dog that would be the deterrent, but rather the by-product 😁
