Hello,
I’m in a bit of shock at the moment and this is my first post. I’ve just received a £100 fine for parking in a non designated area. The usual carpark was closed off, so I kept driving along and parked on a grassy area beside other cars and did not see any signs saying that I couldn’t.
After getting back and finding the ticket, I could have cried! I checked and still couldn’t find any signs ... closer inspection, leaving the park I did spot some but the writing is TINY and have to be read up close and in detail.
I feel like this is a complete con. It’s a private company (isn’t it!?) and I know they’re criminals and I really can’t afford to pay it.
Ive had a quick look about on here and will be sure to write a complaint to my MP ASAP.
Im going to appeal following directions on the notice. From what I can see, this is likely to be rejected. I’m worried because it says if you go to Popla you automatically lose the discounted rate!?
Is anyone willing to help help me clarify in my head where to start with wording my appeal!? I want to get on it straight away but am
a mixture of upset and angry (never good for rational thinking!)
thank you in advance

I think @Coupon-mad and @ParkingMad will be interested in this. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The discounted rate suggests you want to pay them something. That wouldn't be my (and isnt) choice.plugster78 said:Hello,

I don’t want to pay them anything. It’s written on the notice and if there’s no chance of me winning against them, it worries me having to pay £100, over the discounted £60. However, I’m going to try because I think they’re a disgrace and will worry about the finances later.Scrapit said:

You will not pay them a penny and they won't get past POPLA stage.plugster78 said:I don’t want to pay them anything. Stick with the advice from the regulars (especially @Coupon-mad) and take the 100% discount offered by the forum and maybe even have the PPC pay you if/when it goes to court and they lose!plugster78 said:
