New iPhone SE home button broke-how to claim under warranty
Hi,
I bought a new SIM free IPhone SE, I’ve had it less than a week and the glass on the home button has shattered. I haven’t dropped or misused the phone. Apple have made me an appointment for tomorrow at the store in Birmingham for it be looked at but basically if the technician doesn’t believe I haven’t misused the phone then it won’t be covered and I’ll end up paying for repairs. Anyone got any advice for me to help support my claim under warranty?

In my experience new Apple devices don’t break by themselves after a few days of use, but I suppose it’s possible if there was a flaw in the materials. Unusual for an Apple device though. You’d have to prove that this flaw existed though so good luck with that. I’d see what they say though first as you never know, they might be reasonable about it.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Thanks for the comments.
I’m hoping Apple are going to help. There has been no accidental damage but obviously I have no way to prove that either. It’s very frustrating! Since it happened there have been times when the phone has felt quite hot to the touch and the battery life has suddenly plummeted too ☹️ I don’t know how much this type of thing would cost to repair if they aren’t willing to help, suppose I will find out tomorrow!0
