Do you think they will reduce the cost as a good gesture?
    No.
They will see any attempt by you to negotiate as a weakness and it will strengthen their resolve to push for the full amount.
Sorry to say... there are no shortcuts.
How is this £770 made up?
    Ahh, okay i understand.
I have 4 parking charges of £160 each, court fee £60 and £70 legal representative..
In which case they (either the PPC or the solicitors) have added £60 to each PCN, which is unlawful.  The new standard defence template is perfect for you as the judge should remove the spurious "admin or debt control" costs.  Apart from the illegal additions you also need a defence to the original PCN, which is what you put in paragraphs 17 & 18.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs, and in some cases, cancellation.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up later this year,

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these companies, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Obviously 4 parking charges is not £770, and there's not need for us to explain why not.  The template defence covers this.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Is there some sort of template I can follow? I just need a rough idea on what to write to the local MP.

I've had such a hectic week I've only just had time to sit down and fill in the defence template provided but realised my microsoft word had run out of prescription.. so now I have to wait til I get into work tomorrow to use the computer... silly me..

    Thanks in advance,

There is no such template for your MP.  It's a personal letter to someone who hopes you will vote for them next time .... bear that in mind.

SCSLaw are scamming you and there is no such thing as a £160 parking ticket. SCSLaw are faking an extra £60 per ticket.   SCSLaw are not the smartest page in the book, recently they were ravaged by a judge.

What you can do, is get your MP to write to SCSLaw asking what is their legal authority to add fake £60 to each ticket which is against POFA2012 and the Beavis case and is abuse of the courts own ruling  of Double Recovery. If your MP does not understand let him/her read this

Your MP has a duty to you and substantiate their £70k plus salary

Is it worth stating to the MP that the in the letter that our company parks there and pays for monthly season pass for us to park there? We have about 20 cars from our company that parks there and its paid by our office. So the "damage of loss" is a very unfair reason against us as theyre making so much money off us?

Don't mention damage or loss, as that argument has no legs since the ParkingEye v Beavis case, but the first point is good because your contract is within that monthly pass and can't be undermined.

Also, please signpost your MP to the two Government consultations below and encourage him/her to add their thoughts to them both, as you will as well!

AND - please now make a real difference - A TASK FOR SEPTEMBER.

The Government is (this month only) consulting about a new statutory code of practice (CoP) and framework to rein in the rogue parking firms.  Read and comment on the draft CoP proposal and the enforcement framework consultation, and get everyone you know to do the same.

You will need to register to comment on the CoP and enter an occupation even if you are retired or a homemaker, but otherwise it is easy to navigate, and comment upon each section/subsection individually. You can save comments to edit later and or submit comments once you are happy with them.

    https://standardsdevelopment.bsigroup.com/projects/2020-00193#/section

You do not need to register to comment on the enforcement framework which can be found here. It has a link on page 5 to make comments.

    https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/913272/Code_Enforcement_Framework_consultation.pdf

At the very least, we say the parking charge level should be £50/£25 or higher level £70/£35, as per Council PCNs in E&W.

And we say the added fake 'debt recovery' costs are just double counting the cost of letters, and MUST GO because that is unfair and illegal.

Please be heard.  You can bet the hundreds of PPCs will be commenting.

No apologies for repeating this vital 'call for action' to consumers, on every thread this month!

Hi, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately during the time fine was dated. I actually didnt have a monthly pass. I was working in London and Birmingham so I only purchased a monthly parking pass when I stay in Birmingham for a couple of weeks. Is it still worth mentioning this to the PM?

I dont understand how they managed to add the fine up to from £20(the rate for the day even though I didnt park for that long) to £160.... daylight robbery.
