Throughout life you always seem to get told that nobody is perfect.Yet jump on MSE and you see numerous people portray themselves as such on a daily basis. All this preaching about don't break the law as though none of you have ever gone over the limit before. I call bulls poop on anyone who tries to claim they simply do not speed at all. Each and every one of us have done it so don't act holier than thou.2

DUTR said:My own unscientific evaluation are that some cars feel quickAgreed.I have had a MK4 Astra 1.8 and my wife has had a MK5 Astra 1.6. I'll sit at about 70-80 on the motorway but if i put my foot down then i know about it. You can hear it for a start off (and i've actually removed the stainless exhaust and K&N filter that i had and everything is totally standard so it's not like there's anything on it that shouldn't be that is contributing to the noise). My wifes car on the other hand, many a time i've looked down and been like oh crap i'm doing 100, yet it feels like i'm only doing 80. Car is much quieter and actually smoother to drive. So i have to then ease off.And for the uppity lot, yep i said 80. That's 10 over, i know. Shoot me.0

Mostly, it's a perfectly deliberate act, a decision taken in full awareness of the situation and risks around me.
Sometimes, it's simply down to my brain being in neutral, and driving on mental autopilot.
Three guesses which of those a camera detector helps with...1 -

In The Olden Days they would sell you a month, which was enough to get 2 upto date downloads. I suppose they realised that most people (like me) would only sign up for a month per year as the locations don't change that much.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I wonder if the OP is mixing up fixed location cameras and mobile cameras? Sat Navs will as already stated know about fixed locations so turn that feature on. I don't know about mobile cameras except that some local papers will print their locations for the following week(s) but that is of little help if driving out of your locality. The only thing to do there imho is to be vigilant and heed the road signs etc.

There is a long country road near where I live with a totally bizarre 30 mph limit. The only way to keep down to that speed for me is to set the cruise control. I still get overtaken by boy racers who ignore the limit and seem to get away with it, but there you go.0
