best speed camera detector?

Try lighter shoes. Obviously the one on the right foot is too heavy.2

All a detector will do is show you have likely been caught. Detectors were fine in the days of radar speed traps but laser detectors rely on picking up the scatter from something else being targetted before the beam gets you.

Whilst there are some flippant responses there is no doubt getting to the bottom of why you speed will be cheaper than trying to rely on technology. When you drive how often do you ask yourself 'what is the speed limit on this road?. Am I driving within that limit?'
If you have never had any training over and above the one which got your your licence it may be worth having a check drive with IAM or ROSPA.

Hello Col,
How is the new job going? When did you actually start there in the end? 1st August I think you said before, so you will have done a whole month now.
Unless you are truly a reckless driver, I am unsure how you managed to get two speeding tickets in the last 6 months as i understood from your previous threads that you were on furlough for at least 4 of those months and the new job did not require you to go into the office because of concerns about caring for your Dad with chronic asthma and your child with learning disabilities.
I also understood that you were a car salesman, so having a driving licence is, presumably, critical to your employment status. Given you have expressed concerns about income security in the past, the best thing would be to slow down rather than risk your diving licence, livelihood (not to mention the lives of you and others). Having been caught twice (did you get any points? have you done the speed awareness course?) relying on an electronic box of wizardry seems high risk strategy.12 -
Caught again it seems - good catch Grumpy0

I used to use a road angel with subscription, whilst there are the one liners ease your right foot leave earlier etc which are true.col81 said:After being done twice in 6 months i am after a speed camera detector. What is the best option a app or to buy a snooper etc? any advice?
Having the RA actually helps keep the average speed down, one often gets caught out in unfamiliar territory.
I don't use mine now , let me guess though, you are driving a diesel?0 -
On the basis that someone used to the revs in a petrol reaching the same revs in a diesel = much higher speed?DUTR said:I don't use mine now , let me guess though, you are driving a diesel?
Revving a diesel to the same revs as a petrol just doesn't feel right .. you quickly learn this. (I did when I switched from petrol to diesel about 10 years ago).0 -
It wasn't that, and it's not an attack on derv drivers, years ago (not sure if it's still true today) 60or 70% of the caught speeders were diesel cars. My own unscientific evaluation are that some cars feel quick (due to the torque) but it's all over quickly, I always felt I would get caught for speeding in a lower powered car than higher one, for 2 main reasons, the higher power car gets to a speed easier and quickly (hence no desire to keep at 40) , many smaller dervs seem to be racing around as if they have something to prove, I know my friend has the same model car as me same gearbox same torque but petrol/diesel, they certainly have different drive characteristics in everyday driving.DoaM said:

Going back to the OP, if a unit saves him twice it's paid for itself, I feel overall his average speed will reduce as the unit is going too often and as he matures he'll realise the other tips earlier in the thread.0
