"MWTDid you actually get that notification?"NO! It's dad (86) 's account and he does not do email just letters and pays in post office and had no notification or I would have changed companies for him. Rip off last quarter 25p a unit electric and 65p gas!! plus £43 standing charge!!! He even pays more for paying quarterly in cash. How can Ebico promise to be a charity to help people. He cannot possibly pay £160 for a summer bill! Ridiculous.
He is very upset. Is there a welfare section to contact??

He is very upset. Is there a welfare section to contact??To which tariff are you referring? If you've chosen an expensive tariff and been billed correctly there's probably not much you can do, except appeal to their better nature. Is your dad on the Priority Services Register? It seems unclear whether Ebico will continue, and whether such issues would make any difference to their treatment of vulnerable customers.0 -

However in June and with no notification his contract must have ended and they put him on a much dearer tarif and with standing charges of £43 a quarter! So now he has a hug bill of which £43 is just standing charge!! He is so upset.0 -
There wasn't just one Ebico zero standard charge tariff. Ebico Zero Green Fixed v3 had zero standing charge, but this was effectively abolished when Ebico Zero Green Fixed v4 and v5 brought in a minimum annual spend of £156 for dual fuel. So he may not really have had no standing charges.Condition 2.3 will have applied when his fixed deal ended. It states "If you are on a fixed price Tariff, we will contact you to advise you of this. If, by the time your fixed price tariff has ended, you have not chosen a new tariff, we will roll you onto the cheapest similar standard variable or fixed term tariff."This is fairly standard across the industry so it would be difficult to challenge, except on a goodwill basis.Once again, is your dad on the Priority Services Register?0
